ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

    Does this idle right?

hi there peeps i have a 91 honda accord and when i start her up in the morning or every time shes cold she holds idle at about 1500 to1700 rpm for about five minutes then she brings the speed down slowly, after about ten minutes she idles at normal speed which is about 900 rpm. Is the above norm or not i never hade this problem with my other cars oh and also take into consideration its an auto any kind of info would be gratful lol.

? Whats the begining of the end, you see it twice in a week, once in a year, but never in a day???.

does your car just rev high and then slowly drop to normal idle and stay there? Or does it idle rev.?

Sounds normal to me. All of my cars idle high when first started until the water gets to temp.

That's exactly what mine does, at least when it's chilly outside.
                Don't worry about it.

Mine does that. I had it in the garage it would not be as high. Also in the rain or snow it will do that when I first start it. But it is normal.

As has been stated, it is normal. When the car is started cold, it goes into "fast idle" mode.

For our cars, the normal idle is 700 +/- 50 RPM and the "fast idle" is 1400 +/- 200 RPM. Look on the underside of your hood for the Emission Control sticker -- the info is on there.

OT Why does it do that? I thought it was to get the oil warmed up and everything lubed.

Yeah, it does it to heat the oil up a bit faster.. so you can use the motor to its fullest potential quicker.

you should keep it under 3k until its warmed up.

Yea it does that on cold start to bring the car to its "optimal operating temp" or at least thats what the haynes manual states. If you look youll see that as the tach goes down, the temp needle rises.
