ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

    JDI push start

Has anyone used the push button conversion from Jordan Distributors Inc? I first saw it on youtube 79thProdution for a civic and then DrivenFilms for the CB and CG platforms. Just wondering if anyone else has it and looking to see their opinions before I buy.

No........ but dddam that is cool as heck! Dare say I'll try this for sure! Solves many of my current annoying issues:

    - ignition wore out, can remove the key while driving
    - security issues, can start the car with a Popsicle stick

This adds some security as you can put the antenna almost anywhere. Requiring the key to be swiped in a specific spot.
This also replaces the ignition and makes the car look push button factory.

    Nice

The only downside noted is that the steering wheel lock is no longer operational once you remove the standard lock and cylinder. I'm sure there are other avenues to take for that but this kit seems to be an awesome add on for our cars.

Hmmmm. I've never used/installed one. I have designed components housing the push button start before and other interfacing parts with it. Very similar to what I worked on almost 7 years ago or so. #interesting #cool

Yaa can't say I've used that in the past at all. If anything it was annoying when working on the car as I had to get the key to unlock the steering.

I actually plan in ordering this in a few weeks as well as a quick release hub and steering hub lock. That should solve the security issue with the steering wheel not locking anymore after install. I hope to see more people do this. The setup looks amazing when done and the parts look like they'll hold up and not some cheap aftermarket parts.

I thought about the quick release but I don't know why I didn't think of the hub lock solution. I was way quick to think that its still sorta able to be stolen with an exposed hub. Good idea! only now I need to find the better brands that my pockets can afford lol

I'm surprised this site / product has not come up prior on this site. Cheers for bringing this topic up.

So I replaced my ignition this weekend and I didn't realize how easy it is to start a car without a key, I don't want to put it out in the world how easy it would be especially if you remove the steering wheel lock. You can pm me or text me and I'll tell you what i'm talking about. If I were to do that mod, a kill switch or 2 is a must. Cool idea and may be worth something to look into as well.

Don't forget, at one point in history (early to mid '90s) the CB7 chassis was the most stolen car in America for serveral years running. Tie in what you learned from your replacement, and voila!

Oh I remember, I would lose sleep when I was younger because my car was parked on the street and was already broken into and stuff stolen out of it.

They sell a kill switch on their site too (plug and play) but looks like I could make it myself. As long as one hides the antenna and they don't have the key fob it would be hard to start the car? Nope I'm wrong, Guess they can just jump start it ...

                      Q. My car has a manual transmission, if I ever have to roll start my car with this kit installed am I still able to do so?

                      A. It is possible to do as we have been able to do it ourself successfully; however, if done incorrectly the car could think that it has not been started and if you were to press the start button, would turn the starter over instead of turning the car off. If this were to happen you would have to stall the engine instead of turning the car off with the button. You would know to do this by the start button flashing instead of being lit up solid. For this reason we recommend that you jump start the car with jumper cables or a battery pack instead of roll starting it.

So kill switch or steering wheel lock recommended yep. I think still better than OEM ignition where you can start it with a screw driver which also breaks the wheel lock ?

Interesting... I've been eyeing this RFID Proximity switch for a while now to use as a kill switch. Looks very similar.

LOL I keep hoping one of you guys will do it first to see if it works and post instructions...

Well I'm excited to try this. Unfortunately I don't have the engine in the car to really test this. But we'll see if I can do the install soon and update ya. Comes with a wallet size proximity card too which is nice.
