Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

    Temp gauge not working?

Ok so either my cooling system is awesome or the temp gauge is faulty. Now when I turn on the car the needle moves but no matter how long I drive, how hot it is, or how hard I'm driving I've never seen the gauge go up at all. It seems to be always parallel with the ground, never seen it go above it at all. So what's the deal, is the cooling on our CB7's that good or is something fubar with that gauge?

idk id think no car can run that well but it is possible. it could also be a sensor for the temp. so just make sure u check it out and try not to run it hard until u find out if there is a problem.

dont run it hard till you fixs that i can't see a car with that good of a cooling system unless you have like a raceing radiator or something

if the sensor or connection were bad, the gauge would read full-hot.

our cars regulate themselves at just under halfway up the gauge, like you said, parallel to the ground. if the car is basically stock, it shouldnt go above or below that.

sounds like your cooling system is working perfectly fine.

yeah I know this is an old thread but it still seems relevent. So should it move up the gauge if I run the car at 100+ for several minutes? I t never budged, and then one time I opened the hood and smelled hot coolant so that has me worrised too

to be honest, if ur car is stock and ur cooling system is great, then no matter how much u run that thing its still goin to be at that same level, unless ur on a highway and your doing over 100 for like 30mins

Have someone drive a car and stick your head out the window at say 40mph and then again at 70mph. The increase in speed also increase air/wind blowing at you. So even if your engine is working harder at say 100+mph there is also the air/wind factor to help cool it down.

that's true, I thought about that but at first it seemed like the extra work (engine is turning around 4k in 5th gear at 100 seemed to discredit that.

i think your temp gauge is fine mine is also parrallel to the ground. when i busted a hose that was old once the gauge went into the red then i immediatly replaced the hose and its all back to normal. i really think your fine. take it to a shop after running it for like 30 min and then have them check temp with temp gun they know where to point the laser temp gun and how hot the engine should be.
