ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

    discrimination at the mechanic

do you guys ever feel discriminated because of the work you have done to your car when you go to a mechanic for an alignment, brake work, a tune up? I do.

    any advice?

I havent done too much to my cb but the Mechanic that I take my CB to for alignments and such is just an independent guy that my family have taken our cars to for as long as we have lived in this area which has been 20 years. He has worked on every car we have owned from my mom's 71 Mustang to my mom's 2002 Olds mini van. He told me the last time that he saw my CB that he wished that his son took that good of care of his car. I took that as a compliment coming from a guy in his late 40's. About 2 months ago I had new tires installed on my CB at the local Costco and the guy that did the install asked me what all I had done. I told him all I had done and he said he was just wondering because he used to own a 92 CB and he never had much luck with it. He told me that just the little bit that he drove mine from the parking lot into the garage that it felt like it had a bigger engine in it then his old F22. He thought I had done a lot more then what I had really done. I really took that as a compliment too even though it was coming from someone with a lot less experience then my family's mechanic. on several ocassions mechanics won't work on my car because of what I have done to it. A few days ago, these guys wouldn't align it, not even diagnose the problem with the alignment, because I lowered it. Sure, I changed the shocks and springs, but the thing isn't sitting on the ground. When I first dropped it, I wanted to know my camber, so another shop looked at it and was able to do it, no complaints. I plan on going back to this shop.

Maybe its me, but I got the impression that these guys just blew me off, and did not want to associate themselves with the aftermarket work that has been done.

Guys, you might think, wtf has this guy done to his car, I haven't done much and the car looks great and runs great. doen't smoke, sputter, shake. maybe it was just a few isolated incidents. won't be going back to those guys.

Some shops won't do an alignment on lowered cars. There's only a few shops around my area that will do an alignment on a lowered car.

most places do that, once you lower the suspension its hard to find someone to do an alignment. dunno why, maybe they just dont wanna be responsible if anything happens to your car.

its mostly due to liability reasons, they wont touch it b/c they fear of retaliation from u if they mess up

real mechanics dont hate, all my alignments are done by a guy who talks shit about imports every chance he gets(mostly due to ricers who come there w/their neons n bitch y they cant get nething done b/c their outlandish kits cant get on the ramp) but he respects real imports b/c he used to do the same thing in his day(minus the 89in wing or crazy kit), he values REAL PERFORMANCE PARTS

I did gagoogity that girl. I gashmoigitied her gaflavity with my googis. And I am sorry.

Yea exactly, they just dont mess with it sometimes because its not as easy as slapping in the OEM parts. Sometimes im sure it is but every situation is different and when you lower it or whatever sometimes it leads to other issues so they say no.

Some shops are just like that.
The shop that did my mounted my wheels and did my allignment have a sign up that said they arent responsible or aftermarket parts and blah blah blah so it just depends. Find you a good shop and mechanic and stick with em!

lol. yeah i feel you on this one. i thought i was the only one. i felt this way too about 2-3 weeks ago. i went to a shop that i had been going to for the past two years in which they dicided that they didn't want to do an alignment on my car anymore. even back then they acted like they didn't want to do it. now they didn't even attempt. i was recommend to them my the mom shop that even shared the same area with them. my car is still the same height with no changes from last time i went to the shop. so i was like okay man, whatever. and my car is in very bad condition. the alignment is completely off. i had to do some suspenison repair a month ago and its really screwed up. i barely got it to the shop and then they turned me away and had to drive her home. and now, i can't get anyone to align it. shops are too lazy to go the extra mile to help a consumer. all they have to do is use 2x4 or something to have the car roll up on the ramp

there is one ntb i was recommended to here in town. i called them and they told me yes they do lowered cars and they said no one was in so they were waiting on my business. they were the second shop i attempted. so i got there to have them tell me that my car was too low. my bodykit makes my car look lower than what it really is for one and without even trying the dude told me no. claims my oil pan would tear up his machine. i was like, ain't this a bitch. so i will be getting coilovers just to get my car straight, then i will find a good shop that don't care and stick with them like the above post stated. if i have to drive 100 miles out just to find a good shop, i guess i will have to do that because my car will never ride at stock height again as long as i am the driver.

you know its bullshit that they turn us away on alignments. I did lower my car because it looked like it was ready for baja. So, tell me this, do these guys turn away guys that drive up in a stock M3 or 911, or 350z which are about as low as mine? I doubt it.
