ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

Oil Leak, searched but no luck...Help please?

    Hey guys, amazing forum!

So i have a 92' CB7 EX-R, and i noticed that recently she's leaking oil...Its not a large amount but still its pissing me off.

I placed a yard waste bag underneath the motor, and she drips after being driven. The car hasnt been forced, or driven hard at all.

I had the oil pan replaced a while back, and i checked around the pan, and the seals seem fine. Im not sure whether it may be the timing gaskets or something, but any help would do.

Is there a common problem with oil leaks in and around the area of the oil filter location?

Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

Yes our cb7's are known to leak a little now and then.

So you said the oilpan has been replaced...im about to replace my oil pan seal as well

    What else did you check?

A good rule of thumb, is jack the car up....clean the underbody really really well, like as best as you can and then this way you can trace the leak easier.

check the timing belt cover for oil and also check oil pressure sender unit they leak too also check your oil filter adaptor they tend to leak when the o ring goes out one more thing your dizzy check that too they can leak oil too

Hey Ralphie, thanks for the super fast reply.

Thats basically all i checked, unfortunetly i dont have a hoist or anything to lift up the car, but thats probably what im gonna do. The cars been dealer services since day 1, and ive watched them do everything to it as the techinician is a good buddy of mine.

I have a hunch it may be the oil pressure switch, but we think it could also be the timing seals?!?!...which i may not touch till i need to swap the timing belt later on...

Im really lost on this one, i actually had the motor fully cleaned from top to bottom, and then just recently from the bottom because of this problem, but even then no luck...

            No problem dude!!

Hmmm so you had it thorougly cleaned and no luck. Ok so yea my guesses would have to be either the oil sending unit or maybe a seal somewhere.....how long has it been leaking?

            Any CEL(check engine light)?

Does it smoke or run hard?

Hey, yeah thoroughly cleaned, i mean if i were to clean it, being a fanatic of keeping my cb as clean, if not cleaner, similar to typeG i could probably do a better job, but shes quite clean motor wise and what not....

Its been leaking for some time now, i guess u could say since like mid april, at first i thought it may have been coolant which leaked prior to this (a hose tore, but i replaced that so its fine now)...

No CEL's appear, she doesnt smoke at all and/or run hard....i dont drive her hard either....and being the first owner of her since day 1 (taking over from my dad) i know its been serviced well...

But i guess its gotta be some seal somewhere....

Hmmm that surprising that she is leaking at all being driven light and dealer serviced....sounds like you and your dad have treated her very well.

But i wouldnt fret, im sure its nothing serious just remember untill you fix that leak check your oil level daily and keep it up to par.

Yeah, im gonna check her tomorrow...the thing is it doesnt leak when its been sitting for say like a day...but once shes been driven, she leaks very minor droplets...

Well if its still leaking, i guess ill take her in and get it checked out again...

Well if all else fails, lol...ill start preparing for an H22 swap, and make sure everything in terms of hoses, seals, and the other works is replaced....but thats my last resort, hahaha...

Hmmmm you know mine use to do that....shed leak only after being driven but not sitting dormant.

all i did was switch filters i think and it stopped...

what filters do you use??? OEM im guessing right...

hmmm well i use OEM and it doesnt leak so that might not be it....

Yeah everything on her is stock motor wise, and pure oem .... i was just going through the other oil leak thread and read up on a few common leaking areas...its weird, like i had my intake manifold replaced at the beginning of april as well, but i mean im not sure if that caused the leak, but i dont see why it would...hmm, strange, but i guess i cant do much until shes been lifted and i can see underneath...

Hey, ive done that twice now...but i mean it wont hurt to do it again, that was one of my plans before i go start replacing most of the seals that i suspect cause the problem....
