ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

    F22B1 swap

my f22a finally bit the dust after 210,000 miles, and i was wondering about the possibility of an f22b1 swap. what are the logistics or should i just go for the f22b. I'm trying to get the best bang for my buck and h22s are hard to come by in Montana

I love my F22B. Some say you really can't feel vtec in it , but I care to differ. Take a ride in my Wagon and it would change your mind. Try getting one with low babied miles.

The F22B1 head flows poorly in comparison to the F22A, and the "VTEC" is on the intake valves only. The install is about as difficult as an H22 swap, and the only OBD1 F22B1 was from 1995. The newer ones would require dealing with the conversion (not hard, but an extra step).

Unless you can get one cheap, it's not a great choice. A few people, like djcaz_aom here and xfactortype1 (who just has the headswap, I believe) like it... I mean, it IS a more powerful motor, at least by 5-10hp. If you have to go for a newer SOHC VTEC, I would at least get the F23A from the 6th gen. It's pretty much the same, but it makes a little more power. Should be about the same price.

However, the F22B DOHC, while not VTEC, is fairly inexpensive and makes more power than any of the SOHC engines.

Finally, H22s aren't THAT expensive. $1500 or so shipped, for just the motor. Twice what one of the other motors in decent shape would cost, but honestly... if you're going to go through the trouble to swap, do it with something that will really make a difference! With the F22B and F23A swaps, you get about as much extra power as you would gain from a CAI!
