cutting the ac belt?

ive heard about ppl cutting the ac belt and gaining some hp. n e one kno how much u gain? im just debatin if its worth takin out

if you want to free up hp take your whole ac system off, plus I think the alternator and ac are on the same belt, and if they are get a DX belt and that should go just to the alternator.

People cut the power steering belt. The ac belt must be replaced with a dx alternator only belt..... You need your alternator my friend

How are you gaining hp but cutting your alternator out of the picture?

haha only losers need an alternator . i didnt kno the alternator and the ac ran on the same belt. Y would i wanna cut my power steering belt? i like having power steering lol. does n e one kno how much u gain by takin it out though?

Cutting your power steering belt wont give any extra power but it frees up some lost power due to the power steering pump running off the motor. Theres no specific measurement on what you would gain from it but if you were to completely remove your power steering and ac systems instead of just cutting the belt you would shed a few pounds off the front end and free up some power from parasitic drag cause by both systems.

You can free up power by either removing the P/S belt, or just installing the Unorthodox Racing pulley set. You have to remember that the A/C only drains power when it is being used, when the A/C compressor is off the pulley is free spinning and has very little drag. I highly recommend just going with the UR pulley set if you want more power, plus the car will rev faster with the lighter pulleys.

im not doing n e thing to the P/S but i was just wondering about the A/C i kinda figured by takin it out id lose some weight. i didnt kno if id see like a noticable difference in the torque or HP. the UR doesnt have the 90-93
