ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

those the kind of gas matter. just wondering

It really depends on your setup. With a stock f22 then 87 octane is fine, but an h22 requires at least 91. So the answer is yes it does matter what kind of gas you put in.

Do you mean brand wise or octane rating? as far as brand I use whatever is closest at the time and I always use their highest octane avaliable.

If your car is stock or bolt ons 87/89 is just fine as mentioned. Anything over that your not really doing anything for your car. Brands of gas I only use are Chevron/Shell and occasionally BP up in the north.

I got a stock F22a1 and I use reg. 87 octane and then every time I fill up, I use STP Fuel injector cleaner. That joint really works. The first time I used it, I really noticed a small difference in engine response and I also get a little better mileage.

87-89 for reguler motors or just bolt ons
93+ for turboed and high compression motors like the h22

and sunoco is the best gas in the whole world.

Crappy Tire Gas! I get it all the time and notice no difference on my stock accord. Even between grades I don't notice any difference.

higher octane = less chance of detonation

if your car is like mine and you have higher than spec. compression because of carbon buildup on the cylinders 89 will make your car run a whole lot better. but i still run 87. chevron w/ techron rocks.

you wont. 93 is like a clearner gas. cleans up the carbon a bit.

Higher octane burns smoother and longer, and reduces the chance of detonation with forced induction or high compression (I am fortunate/unfortunate enough to have one of each! )

There is no benefit to running high octane gas on a normal engine.

Any clue what the comparison is to US fuel? I've heard (though never confirmed) that the octane ratings used in many other countries are significantly different than the US standards.

Although I know for a fact that putting a higher octane in my car does nothing with my stock motor, I am compelled to use 92 octane fuel when I fill up.

The reason i do this is because my best friend Randi uses 92 octane in her Integra, and I used to allways make fun of her, she tried to tell me that you get better mileage and that it makes less carbon buildup.

I did a little experiment a few months back, and I filled with the standard grade fuel just like all ways. I drove until I was at 400 miles on the tank, which puts me a roughly 1/8 inch above empty. after a little math I was getting roughly 29.5 mpg.

when I was at this point I filled my tank with premium, and reset my tripmeter. when I again drove 400 miles, I noticed that the gauge was further from empty than before. i returned to the gas station, and once again filled my tank. after some mileage calculations I was shocked to learn that I got 32 mpg on premium fuel!

I know this makes no since at all, but seeing is believing!

when you factor in the 30 cents more per gallon you come out about even, but when you also factor in the wear and tear on your car using regular gas versus premium, the choice is clear!

so in my case premium fuel does benefit my car, I cant say that i feel a noticeable increase in performance or anything, but I do notice 150 miles per tank on my already stretched pocketbook!

As for brand of gasoline, I ONLY use chevron w/techron. I would rather run out of gas looking for a chevron than put bargain basement gas in my baby!

I use Wawa gas... probably not the best stuff, but it's good... and I can get some good food while fueling up Wawa will take over the world... those who don't have them in their areas (which would be like 46 states ) don't know what they're missing!

Anyway, unless you have concrete evidence that your driving habits were the same on premium, as well as where you drove, you can't really say it makes a difference. Especially with just one comparison.

I've gotten 29.1 mpg in my GTP. I've also gotten 14.3. Depends on how and where I drive!
