    Check your master cylinder.

I had the same problem with the brakes locking and burning up. After swapping over a full Acura Vigor brake system, the problem still persisted. I replaced the master cylinder and bam!...its good, and good.

I agree with last comment, pull ABS code. Open your trunk, to the right in the plastic liner is a plastic cap covering a hole in which you can see an LED light for the ABS computer/module. Check the codes, I think you need to have the ignition key in the "II" position, then go back there and check, it's a red light. Anyhow, this should lead you to something you need to further investigate/narrows it down. Hit us back with what you find. I think that because your brakes do work and do eventually release, that mechanically things are fine. I'm thinking that since your ABS light is on, something is tripping there causing randomly brake lock up. Your ABS work by pulsating the brakes on/off to come to a non-skidding stop, well it's doing that sporatically for some reason on your car I'm thinking and causing it to lock up. However, after ruling out your ABS system is okay, then I'd move onto mechanically something the shop did not catch (technically they should have noticed anything obvious, so by default I'm not primarily focusing on that).

how about the brake booster?....is there any issues in there that could cause this?

In regards to the brake booster idea, I see the way it works and it technically could be possible. Assuming this issue occurs when he brakes, which then he says it locks up and releases after like 5 minutes.

The purpose of the brake booster is to ease the braking force needed to properly stop. Anyhow, your brake booster atmospheric port could be plugged, which then would allow you to generate pressure to brake, possibly leak past fulcrum plate and come in behind the plate temporarily causing lock up, then slowly leaking back past the fulcrum plate to slowly release. However, there is a spring that pushes the fulcrum plate back to it's default position and that would quickly overcome (less than 5 minutes more than likely) the leaked air behind the plate causing potential lock up.

I have never heard or witnessed this happening. I haven't run into or heard of a brake booster failure yet. Like any part, it can fail. I think that if it fails though, it will be harder braking issues rather than lock up.

I'm still leaning to you pulling the ABS code and something causing the ABS to kick in unnecessarily. Pull that code! This will point you in a direction, then you can check the mechanics of it, assuming it passes that part first.

ha ha always geting technical did u know that our cb,s are notorious for building up rust around the rubber flex hose that connects 2 the strut i had this prob after changing master cyl caliper. when i went to change the flex cause i thought it might b clogged.when i loosened the nut from the strut i heard all the fluid go through and never had the prob again.

Why not? They just don't use the OBD2 scanner.
