ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

    What's The Difference?

Ok so according to the engine list sticky, the f22a1, f22a4 and f22a6 engines are all 2.2 liters with an 8.8:1 compression ratio with the difference being how much power they make and in what RPM range. So if these engines are nearly identical then what can be used to tell the difference between them? Is there a mark on the block somewhere that designates which engine it is?

Yes. On all Honda 4-cylinders since the 80's or so, the block is stamped to the left of the exhaust header, just under the water neck.

Thanks a lot. That helped a bunch.

@DarkShadow707: That link is the one I was referring to and i could not find any info ab out how to IDENTIFY the engines. Thanks anyway though.

F22A4 is identical to the F22A1 other than the exhaust manifold (which is a tubular header on the A4). It provides an additional 5hp. Everything else, even the pt3 ECU, is the same.

The F22A6 has a cast iron exhaust manifold like the F22A1, but it's still a better design. It has an intake manifold with an IAB system (dual runners with butterflies that open at highr RPM). It also has a wilder cam, stiffer valvesprings, and a PT6 ECU with different programming (and control for the IAB). Those things give an extra 15hp over the F22A1.

And as said above, you can identify the blocks by the stamp... or, once you know what you're looking at, by the parts attached to the motor.

The insides of the motors are all the same (unless you count the springs, whcih aren't that big of a deal). That means you can take the A6 parts and put them on an A1 for more power.
