I think the thought process is wrong on this.
The lower the offset, the further out the wheel sits from the hub. So the futher out it sits from the caliper. So no need for spacers. People run high offset wheels, like ITRs, and need spacers, because the wheel sits really close to the hub and caliper, therefore there is a need for a spacer to clear the caliper.
