    Mazda Miata Switch Holders

Here's something you DIY guys might find useful.

I don't really know the best location for this information, so I guess I'll share it here. It isn't really a DIY, just a photo and some information.

I'm in the midst of relocating a few switches in my car. In searching for possible switch retrofits, I was looking inside a 1st gen Miata (1989-1997). I was looking at the dashboard and noticed the grouping of switches to the left of the steering column.

The switches happen to be good candidates for retrofits inside our center console. The dimmer switch, for example, fits snug inside the Accord center console switch blanks. Not a perfect fit. It's about .5mm short in height. Width is identical.

Furthermore, the switches come incased within their own "holders" of sorts - plastic shrouds. These shrouds can be removed from the Miata dashboard bezel and retrofitted into various places of your choosing. Use either the Miata switches OR select from your own Honda center console switches to fill them.

Here's a photo of the Miata switch holder with a Honda fog switch inside.

What can you do with these? Here's an idea - if you have a 9091 Accord and wish to install center console switches, grab a few of these to retrofit them into, say, your shifter console. The nice thing about these is that you can cut a somewhat crude hole and cover it up. After all, it's basically a shroud.

    Food for thought.

Because I'm not finished yet! Pics will be posted when everything is done!

Here are some of the Miata switches you fellas might find useful for retrofits:

Here are pics of shifter console switch locations on the CL, as an idea of how they could be mounted.

I bought a car bra and the seller said it was for 1990-93 Accords. I figured the 90-93 has the same lights and it would fit perfect. Well it doesn't. My question is, what year did the lights change? Since I have a 91 coupe, I thought they would all (sedans, coupe, and wagon) be the same headlights. My coupes' look the same as the wagon.
So the bra looks great with silver "Accord" embossed on it. but it doesn't fit around the lights. I can either try to fit it on different years' and see what year it's for and then resell it..or take it to a Auto upholstery shop and see if they can refit it. Can they do that? All I know is finding one for a 92 LX wagon is very hard!
why would you think this is the right place to post that?

Joshy! nice find. The switches fit into the shroud... and are held up in place? certain honda switches are deeper than others, and i wonder how those would work, but i am assuming the switch is held up by the lip around the face. any pictures of the inside of the shroud without a switch in it? next time im at the yard ill have to get a few.
