    1-Touch Sunroof???

I wasnt sure if i should post this here or the Audio/Elec but..

I'm hesitant about asking this question cuz i dont wanna give my idea(s) away but I'm curious..has anyone tried/idealized/thought of fabbing/tweeking a sunroof to be 1-touch open(or close)? I know the 98-02 Accords have the 1-touch open, and many other newer cars ive come across have the auto-open option as well. I imagine its possible, im just not sure if CB's are compatible or how hard of a project this may be. i almost dont know where to start. I cant find wiring schematics for the auto-down on the DS window nor, diagrams for the sunroof. And im pretty sure i couldnt just yank a switch and wiring from a 6G and replace it. I know there are variables. I'm not lazy..to a certain degree, i just think "auto-" options are neat little gadgets. Any help or advice is welcome.

I am guessing you could probably just swap out the switch since thats usually what controls the 'auto-down' on the windows.

lets get something going on this...id be more then willing to do some research and add to the puzzle.

well, i know how to get my windows to auto-roll up/down, i think, lol, but could it be as easy as swapping out the button from a 6G Theres gotta be an extra wire or switch or relay or something...right??

I need to look up the dimensions for the 6g sunroofs, cuz if theyll fit our CB's, im almost willing to just swap out the whole thing. roof, switch and maybe even wiring. That way ill have the 1-touch open AND the tilt-up roof

Well my g.f has a 6g and her sunroof looks awfully similiar to ours....but i think its a litte more oval....but its size is got to be close.

I just bid on a 6g button for .99 lol....so when that badboy arrives i can play with it and see what happens.

i was thinkin of swappin in switches from something like a scion tc cuz they are both auot up and down, i think its just a matter of the button locking in place with some type of clip, i like this idea of auto 1 touch open everything.....hmmm i need to go to ebay real quick and get some parts

Well I am pretty sure someone added the 'one touch' to their other windows on a cb7 simply by using another driver window switch, so I would think that it would work with the sunroof. Im sure it wouldnt be plug and play, so you would need the wires and just swap it in.

Im not big on electronics, but I dont see why it wouldnt work.

Man. This is crazy. I have been wantingn this sooo bad. B/c the sunroof switch is in an awkward spot and isn't convenient to hold open and closed. The only thing I don't know is if the switch is timed or not, like stays open for a certain amount of time. But holding until it feels resistance makes more sense. So maybe it would work. Someone please figure this out, I don't know wiring at all. But a DIY would be awesome. I'm gonna see if I can look at my friends 6g switch.

the auto-down relay boxes from older fords would work perfectly. our driver switch works because it can be pressed the extra click... the relay can be used to make the rest do 1 tap rolldown, or hold and stop where you want. theres diagrams out there on the net, its easy to add it to any switched system like the windows, sunroof... i have 8 or 9 of these things in a box, sometime id like to get around to doing all the windows up AND down, and sunroof open/close that way.

as i remember it, its turnoff was based on the electrical resistance of whatever it was running. if it jumped up (window hit the end) the unit knows to stop... but id have to double check that.

Sounds very interesting. Would it be plug and play off an old ford? Or would the honda switches work? I don't know any wiring but I want this so bad. hah. With some more research I might try this... if it's cheap.

it keeps a normal switch, so you leave the switches as is. and cheap, yes, as they came in every older ford/mercury/lincoln... me and a friend swiped a whole bunch last time we went to the yard (last year?)

i dont remember it being any more than just matching and splicing the wires... the hardest part is figuring out which wires in the accord wiring to connect the relay to.

So for instance on the sunroof... You have to takeoff the whole bezel, then take the wire connecting the switch to the harness (?) and put the relay in there. So it goes from the harness to relay to switch. That's it? And same for windows I guess? Then the automatically go up and down?

Excuse my noobness. But this is so intriguing.
