    92 wagon tail light functions?

ok, does anyone have like a labeled map or something of what part of the tail lights do what?

I am gonna see if I can make some fiberglass tail light covers for the wagon, and try to style them like R32 skyline tail lights. I have seen the TYC tail lights, and while I could try to buy some and then modifiy them onto the wagon, I really don't like the outer turn signals on it. I really just want two round tail lights and if I need to will put slots in the covers for the reverse lights and etc.

The R32 ones are more the style I want, but I think I would be ok making some R33 style also...

So if anyone can map out which areas of the tail light do what, please post it, I can always do some strips across the bottom or top whichever requires it. but I really want the main lights to be round.

OR, you can get two round lights, from a HArdware store, kinda look like the lights on trucks... 18 wheelers etc.

and u an weld sheet runnin across the tailghts and cut holes to match the round lights...

thats wat im thinkin of doing.

Yeah but that costs $$$$$$$ and I don't want to do any serious permanent mods right now.

at some point I am gonna have my car stripped down to a rolling shell and get the bodywork all fixed, R33 style front bumper, painted and such. I know the rear door is a little off center already so if I do any welding or stuff like that it might make the fit different once it's all repaired up..

plus, I don't want to have to fab tail lights. this is my DD so I need everything to be fast on or fast off.

The wiring is the same as on a CB7 sedan. I am working on some custom red clears.

well I am not interested in the wiring, as much as I am interested in, what part of the light can I cover up?

From left top to right bottom: Blinker, Reverse, Brake 1, Brake 2. Legally, you could cover one of the brake lights. There are other options (illegally covering lights and changing wiring/bulb types to make one signal for blinker and brake)

EDIT: Mock up. This is technically legal. You've got all the lights necessary. A cop may pull you over if there are really bored to just real stiff on autos. Just a thought for ya

lol.. yeah I found a pic of your wagon rear in the members rides and started looking at my own tail lights to see what does what to map it out.
I wouldn't do anything near as drastic as what you did. but,
this is what I came up with VVVVV

and ideally those holes would be round, and centered and the same size etc.

Ok so here is the style I had in mind and how it could possibly look. here it is in plastic sheeting with scotch tape:
note the cutout on the side so the turn signal is visible from the sides.

ok note here in the side view, I drew in paint some lines on the side marker.. these lines are other side slots that are possible. personally I kinda like the one I have cut, or maybe the short one. I think the long one would look kinda dumb.

Here it is with the brake lights on, ignore the fact that the light bleeds through the plastic

and here is brake lights and reverse lights

How were you planning to do this? I also want to fit some red/clears. Are you planning on taking a sedan set of red/clears and retro fitting it on?

i see a similar idea on a car every time i go to this mexican place..

i think they painted vw tails or headlighst like this. looked like total garbage imo.

gl with it though, i hope you can make it look good

Im glad to see that Im not the only one customizing the wagon tails

btw if you put on 5th gen rear side markers you wont need to leave the sides of the taillights exposed. cuz the side markers will act like refectors too

(I made a topic on how to add them to wagons in the DIY section)

I like the creativity... but I'd figure you'd want to do something Unique... doing skyline style lights on the back of an accord would be like putting a GTR emblem on it IMHO...

I actually am taking a course on plastic mold setting. I'm going to do a set from scratch and possibly some other items.
