clearcoat would be the best thing to do, it offers the UV protection that carbon fiber needs. Use only a catalyzed body shop grade clearcoat. Three to four medium wet coats and a flatsand and buffing will give you that deep, wet-look shine.

      i agree with wherm.

alot of CF hoods don't have clearcoat. it's just polished resin, which fades faster than you'd like. later.

You could just have the carbon hood painted to match the car. Why did you get the hood, for looks or to save some weight? I hope the latter, otherwise you might as well just get a carbon vinyl wrap.

Re-clearing the hood is the best option though if you still want to see the weave. I guess a hand polishing could be worth a try too.

Well, if you don't want to use paint or re-clear coat it, then clay it and mother's 3 step it.

I heard peanut butter works too, something about the peanuts oils restores the shine. Ive also heard that peanut butter works wonders with removing grease, but ive never seen it done before.

It works slightly. But, the smell and bug attraction is definitely not worth it.

wax does not make things shine, polish does. get some polishing compound and work a shine back into it. you can add wax after you get the shine you want from the polish. later.
