    Keyless Entry on Approach

I've been trying to figure out what alarm to purchase. I was initially just going to run a viper 5002, until I saw a feature on the Zenesis E502AS alarm. When someone carrying the Zenesis key fob approaches the car, the alarm brain recognizes the alarm key fob, disarms the alarm, and unlocks the doors.

I was wondering if there were any more mainstream alarm systems that utilized the same disarm-on-approach feature that the Zenesis has. I've been searching, but I haven't had much luck.

    Hmm...

The Zenesis I was referring to was:

My main hesitation was that I didn't want to pay 370 bucks for a non-mainstream alarm. However, while looking at a prostar alarm that had the disarm-on-approach feature, I can across:

The Zenesis and Easycar alarms seem identical, but under different labels. The Easycar alarm is also only 240 bucks. I might just go with that one. Hopefully shipping is cheap.

Most electronic devices are all made in the same factory and have the same parts but come out with different names and prices tags. Just because the name in not mainstream does not mean that the product is going to be bad. If you buy it and don't like it return it im sure there is a warrenty that comes with it and some sort of return policy.

A lot of car alarms are made by DEI, such as Viper, Ungo, Python... just to name a few. So, that one MIGHT be made by a reputable company... that's a cool ass feature tho, I wish my Ungo had that shit!!

Looking at the link you posted, my Ungo has all of the same features, except the unlock thing, and I only paid 150 for mine. The local stereo shop around here wanted 250 for it, plus it was 8 hours to install, at 60 bux an hour, no thanks

The 07 Legend also has the "disarm-on-approach" feature.

I'm not a big fan of it, due to the fact that you "walk away" and it arms. If you were in a noisy area and diddn't hear it arm (or the fob battery goes flat), you would have to walk back to the car, then leave again - which would make you have to constantly watch your car as you walk away to see if the lights flash.
IMO I like just pushing the button on my remote as soon as I step out, Knowing that its locked and armed.

I feel more comfortable arming/locking the car myself, I don't want this "it arms by itself" bullshit. I've got a Hornet remote start alarm and its been working great, ever since I got the car back in 2003. The previous owner installed it for around 315 bucks, but that was 2003 standards, so it's probably a third of that by now.

And 6000ft range? who cares about that range? its not like you can do anything about it that far away anyways. Prefessional thieves take about a min. or less to get in and get out w/ the stuff.

For me, the only thing I like is the remote start since it gets so dam hot here in AZ. I just set the A/C to MAX before I leave and then start it from like a 100 ft away. Thats more than enough time for the A/C to start getting cool. And by then I'll just open the windows and blow the hot air out.

You really don't need to spend you life savings on an alarm system. Since most theives nowadays prob. have done their homework and probably know all the alarms on the market anyway.
