    help on installing 2 sirens

just as the title states, how would you wire up another siren on top of the existing siren on a alarm? would you simply just tap off the existing siren or would you need to build a separate circuit or relay to make it work?

i just want to have one inside the cabin and one in the engine bay. also having a unique sounding alarm siren helps in identifying my car among many others. thanks in advance!

              i think this is right...

tap off the current siren output and connect it to terminal 86 on a relay
connect terminal 87 on the relay to the positive of your battery
              ground terminal 85
connect terminal 30 (its a positive output) to your new siren

nice... so is there any specific size/wattage of relay that we would need, or are they all the same?

just a normal spdt (single pole double throw) relay used for car applications...you can get them on ebay or probably pick them up at a shop nearby that installs alarms

so something like that.. since it has 5 poles, you could potentially run 2 outputs off of it?

But something like this would be ideal correct?

Well... I ended up going all out. I purchased 10 relays and 8 sirens. Nobody will mess with my car now.

Just kidding. Well i did purchase that many, but will only be using a few. If anyone is interested, they should be here in a week, and i'll have about 6 relays and 6 sirens that I will have no need for.

Next question. Is there any way to delay the extra sirens? Like so when you arm the car, you only hear one. But when set off, it will go off with the first one, then kick in with the extras like 5 seconds later. I thought I saw something that did that, but cant remember what they are called.

Another question..... How would one install battery backup on the alarm?

let me see a pic of the type of siren you have...depending on how much your looking for i may be able to take one and a couple relays off your hands...

as for the delay...im not sure how that would work...i can tell you how you could wire it so only one chirped and the rest went off, but i have no idea how you could do a time delay unless you bought some kind of timer i suppose

as for the battery backup...im not sure if you can install one unless your alarm supports one

                          This is what you need:

                          http://cgi.msn.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI...sPageName=WDVW

It is a time delay/pulse generator

As far as the backup battery if the alarm midule does nto support it, then it is hard to add backup power source.

Well, im sure the brain will accept it. Its top of the line, so i wouldnt see why not.

                            Aaron:

how would you wire it for that? one to chirp, and the rest go off? thats all i needed.

The alarms/sirens I got are audivox... only ones I found online. I'll just bundle a siren and a relay together and sell them since thats how they will prolly be used.

What model alarm is it? if you tell me what it is, I'll tell you if it has the circuitry for it or not. Not all do, even some of the top of the line alarms don't. Funny thing is that I bought a cheap alarm on ebay and it did not come with a motion sensor, but it had a backup battery, go figure?

                              **EDIT**

I found this universal backup battery that will supposedly work on any alarm. I have never used or seen such a thing, but here it is:

                              http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...sPageName=WDVW

Anyway, that may be the ticket for you, but just keep in mind that a 9VOLT battery will not hold the alarmin the on position for too long.
