believe it was an SE thing as well, and yes, it would be under the rear deck in the trunk.

Was it the '89 SE-i's that came with the bose factory amp under the passenger seat? I keep seeing people think (as did I) that there was a factory amp there on some older version of the Accord.

Only the SE's came with Bose, (93's for sure and 91's not sure) and the amp is in the trunk under the rear deck.

That's correct: Bose in the CB7 only for the 1993 SE; NOT '91 SE.

My '91 had the standard radio/cassette but with 1/2 DIN EQ below it.

Mine had Bose EVERYTHING when I bought it. Bose 6x9's in the rear and I think 5 1/4" in the front. Not very big is what I remember.

The amp is in the trunk under the third brake light almost. It's a black box, that looks very unimposing. You probably already know this, but I'm gonna tell you anyway; the Bose radio system is very odd in it's funtionality. The HU sends out an extremely weak signal to the amp. We're talking like 5 watts, max. The amp delivers the real signal of around 22 rms and 50 peak, same for a standard radio today.

What does this mean? It means that if you get a new HU, you have to bypass the amp alltogether. This in turn means you have to grab each wire to each speaker individually and run straight current from the HU to the speakers. This, of course, isn't completely the same if you're using an amp for the speakers themselves as well. You still have to grab the wires, only you now run them from your new amp to the speakers.

To sum it up, if you replace the HU, you have to bypass the entire Bose system itself, save for the speakers themselves. Of course, I'm only speaking for the 93 SE system. Other systems have amps on each speaker, in which case you have to chuck the speakers as well.

Anyway, I should also mention that the bose speakers are made of cardboard as well. In addition, when I opened my speaker pods the second day I owned my car, I found the right speaker to be shattered. Let me reiterate that: SHATTERED. I mean there was about 1" of cardboard left on the entire speaker. The rest was in shattered bits inside the basket.
