Please DO NOT Post In The General Section

From this point on until otherwise briefed, posting in the general section of Performance Tech is prohibited. The only thing to remain here will be the stickies. We would just delete this section, but that would cause unintended results.

The majority of the threads created can appropriately be placed in one of the Performance Tech sub-forums or Technical; and the posting of them here is detrimental to the activity of said forums. If you have any questions about where you need to place your thread PM me or one of the other mods.

For the most part you all have caught on without this post, but there have been a few habitual offenders that forced me to say this.

Everyone will get a couple of warnings from here on out, after that I just start deleting threads.

Again if you have any questions, PM me or one of the other mods.

    my exhaust

I have a ceramic header with a gutted cat(straight pipe) and a jdm tusudo cat-back. i love the way my car sounds but when i come down in the rpm's it pops and crackles the whole time. is there anyway i can fix this? Maybe a magnaflow high flow cat?

Mine does the same thing. It'll pop from time to time.

I actually thin you would have to go with a smaller pipe all the way back.

I think it's just what the motor does as it idles down because it's getting more fuel than air because the TB id closed.

Personally i like it a little. If yours does it all the time you might have an internal issue.

Although my H22 did it like mad when i would idle down driving it open headers.

Mine is almost like its backfiring. I think I'm running a little rich though.

I believe all cars do this to an extent... If you have no cat, then that will amplify what is happening inside your exhaust.

When you let off the gas either from mid to high RPM's you'll hear that occasional "POP" sound. My car does it and I have a cat and stock exhaust. My room mates car does it, he drives a 93 Z28 with 3 inch exhaust and headers and no cat. His car will scream and when you let the engine pull the RPM's down you will definitely hear the "POP" I've been told it's not bad.
Been a long time. Still alive...

Well at least you dont have flames shooting out of your car when its popping. I had an 89 Sentra that would shoot foot long flames out the side pipe when I was gearing down. It did it only when I was running rich but it would stop when it was half ass stoich.

My car does that too. Like a rumble kinda noise and a couple low pitched pops. I personally like the sound. I have a auto but I shift it like a manual and if say i keep it in d1 and hit the gas to about 4000 rpm then let off as if to roll to a stopsign, it does it. I think it sounds pretty cool Only thing is now I have a exhaust leak between the header and downpipe because of the shitty ebay gaskets and on top of the exhaust smell that gets my lightheaded when i have the heat on, its hard to hear the sound from the back anymore. just from the front

Unlike most conventional transmissions, it uses three parallel axis shafts-a main shaft, a counter shaft and an additional secondary shaft-instead of two shafts. The unit is barely larger than a normal transmission (it is just 2 mm longer than the 1989 two-shaft automatic) yet permits the use of a fifth clutch so the transmission can be held in low gear until the driver moves the shift lever. This "low-hold" feature is useful when low-speed power or engine braking is needed, as when pulling a boat trailer out of the water or descending very steep inclines.

mine does the same thing all open exhausts do it i have a test pipe so no cat and 2.5 megan racing type 2 exhaust i love the sound from it and the pops are great if you put in a resonator or a silencer if your exhaust has it then the popping goes way down in sound or doesn't make the sound.

All the "poping" sound is the exhaust gases equalizung pressure in the system. But a resonator will take care of most of the sound.
