So I am planning on buying an MFactory LSD and MFactory final drive for my H22. Real quick, it's an H22A block with 97-01 USDM tranny.
My options for final drive through MFactory are 4.64, and 5.15.
I autocross my car during the summer and drive it as much as possible, weather depending, for work and pleasure. I only put about 5 thousand miles on it per year, so here is where my wear and tear concerns come into play.
I realize that the taller I go with my final drive, the better my acceleration will be on the track. However, right now I'm running 3500 RPM's at 70mph. My commute to work involves a 16 mile stretch of highway. Not too sure what my RPM's would be at 70mph with either final drive, but I know they will be higher. I don't care about gas mileage, but I know that higher RPM's for a longer period cause more wear and tear on my engine.
What I want to know is...If I only put 5000 miles on my car each year, would the wear and tear even be that significant? Would paying about $200 more for a 5.15 final drive be worth it? I need some really good, clear advice here. I'm all about spending the extra money if it's gonna be noticeably better, and not all that detrimental to my motor.
What do you think? 4.64 or 5.15? I'm not a top speed kinda guy, I'm all about acceleration, however I don't want premature engine wear...
Help!
