    Turbo timer for NA motor?

so I had a thought today (imagine that), i was wondering if a turbo timer would have any significance on a NA motor as far as a cool down period from hard runs? I would like to hear some input on this please.

You're not the first, nor last, to come up with this idea.

Unfortunately the car will definently cool faster when it's off. The car is considerablely hotter sitting and idling, than moving and running, simply because you have no air flow underneath the hood.

Correct me if I'm wrong fellow cb7tuners.

The turbo timer is the cool down the turbo , not the engine

im thinking more along the lines of coking similar to a turbo setup as far as the oil sitting there and burning after a hot run. allow the turbo timer to run for a minute or so to allow the oil to run through the motor and cool a little bit before the car is shut down completely?

Doesn't the engine circulate the oil on its own when you turn off the car? Isn't that what the drip drip drip sound is after you run it hard and shut 'er off? These are merely questions, now I'm venturing into the unknown as far as my knowledge. lol

what your hearing is just oil draining back into the pan, its not actaully circulating through the engine.

The engine doesn't get hot enough to really have a big coking effect like a turbo does.
As said above - sitting idling engines get hotter, not cooler.
Turbo temps are similar to cylinder temps - except the turbo is cast iron which holds that heat, where as the alumimium block and head can dissapate it faster - Not to mention the large coolant surface area around the cylinders as oppose to the small volume in a turbo.

                  Taken from another site:

"because n/a cars simply do not generate the same heat that a turbo does, the oil does not sludge when it is left in the galleries upon shutting the engine down, therefore a turbo timer is not necessary."

edit: Looks like the guy above me just posted the same thing :@

                      I did it regardless

I'll need it anyway in a few months, so why not now haha?

Nothing better than walking away from your car in a busy carpark with it still running, and have everyone look and ask if you knew you left it on lol

Haha, never thought to say it that way

I've always wanted to walk away and have somone inform me my car is still running at the perfect time
So i could wait a few seconds, clap my hands or click my fingers.. And the car would shut off

^ Isn't that just a "remote starter" minus the remote and key-less entry?

It should be called a pre-turbo timer for those who are going to be installing a turbo in the near future.
