Please DO NOT Post In The General Section

From this point on until otherwise briefed, posting in the general section of Performance Tech is prohibited. The only thing to remain here will be the stickies. We would just delete this section, but that would cause unintended results.

The majority of the threads created can appropriately be placed in one of the Performance Tech sub-forums or Technical; and the posting of them here is detrimental to the activity of said forums. If you have any questions about where you need to place your thread PM me or one of the other mods.

For the most part you all have caught on without this post, but there have been a few habitual offenders that forced me to say this.

Everyone will get a couple of warnings from here on out, after that I just start deleting threads.

Again if you have any questions, PM me or one of the other mods.

which cylinder head yields more performance

I have a Pde dash 1 and a pcf will the head with a bigger combustion chamber yield more performance with type s pistons and will the valves interchange

    #2
Each head will be different, depending if the pde head is a manual one, youll be able to use the cams out of it but thats all its worth

the pde head has a smaller chamber and smaller valve area, for a smaller bore
the pcf is just a regular h head, which will be your best bet

both will make power for sure
take it like this: you get the chance to date one of identical twins, which both are fine as fuck, but one has A-cups and the other uses a 34c
    your choice my friend

If both heads are fully assembled then then the PDE would be the best choice. It has revised valve angles and a factory port job similar to what the B18C5/B18C-R/B16B got. The combustion chambers are apparently both 53.8cc. The compression difference is all in the pistons. If this head is not complete then valves for it will be difficult to come by as they are a slightly different length than standard H22A valves for P13/PCF/P5P heads.

I have not verified this at all but according to some people on Honda-Tech there were 200-2001 Preludes in the US that came with heads that were cast with PDE. I can't find anything out there about the difference in intake manifolds on those particular models or if they were just a standard H22A head that had some revision that put them in the same family with the PDE as Honda saw it but apparently they're out there. I've never seen one to know for sure. But, it's worth seeing which market yours came from by looking up all of the casting numbers on your head.

Aren't the PDE and PCF the same head?

On the larger chamber quation, a larger chamber will not yield more performance. In the H series combustion chamber, less is more! Just make sure to clay your motor before running it.

Ports in the PDE have been slightly worked from the factory...... however, the valve angles and all the internals are exactly the same. Bore size are both 87mm as well aren't they.....!

PR CB7, I think you're thinking that someone is talking about the PCB F20B head. Yes, it is a smaller bore but it's still a 53.8cc combustion chamber. I've got one out in the garage. It's visibly deeper to accept the 4.7cc pistons.

The PCF is most similar to the P13 head. Here is a thread on Honda-Tech showing the differences between it and the PDE.

EDIT* Since I love threads like these, I'll add some additional information.

We all know what the flange of a regular H22A manifold looks like but if not I can get pictures for that also.

Here is the flange for a manifold that's mated to a PDE head. If you look in that thread it shows some weird cavity between the intake ports that's sealed off once you have the intake manifold on there. You can also see it on the deck surface comparison photos. This cavity is mated to these pin holes in the flange on the manifold for air injection. I could be totally wrong on this but I think it's to provide better atomization of the spray of the injectors. If this manifold is used on a non-PDE head then these will need to be blocked. Vice-versa as well. If you ran a manifold like this on a PDE head then your guess is as good as mine as to where you would find a gasket.

These are just bonus and provide no information necessary for this thread.

i like that analogy lol. But wouldn't they shine in different areas as in lower rpm torque vs high rpm power?

there is a very noticable diffierence in the angle in compression chamber (i hope thats right) {area where valves and spark plug are}. The PDE has much more angle and 35mm in valve 30mm exh valve. the pcf has i believe i'll double check 30mm int 25-27mm exh. But the PDE needs at bare minimum 2 exh valves to run properly, PCF ready to go. My cams appear to be usdm stock the cams.

Your valve measurements are way off if you truly have two H22A heads. This thread has dimensional information on many of the F/H-series engines.

If the PCF head is ready to go right now then that's the one I'd use.

Well I decided to go with the pde head. Got it all cleaned up, oily mess. Then I went to leak check the valves and to my surprise all of the exhaust valves are leaking and I don't mean alittle dribble either. Valve seats had carbon all the
m, so I cleaned those up too, went to lap the valves every single exhaust valve is bent!
