Royal Purple has a product called Synchromax. I used it in my Galant VR-4 (which have JUNK synchros) and it shifts better than it did with Redline MTL.

Synchromax is specifically designed for transmissions that use motor oil for a lubricant (like a Honda!).

I'm going to put some in the next time I service the car.

edit: Make sure you don't buy the stuff they call MaxGear. That's what I SHOULD have put in the Galant. MaxGear is 75w90 synthetic, not for Honda trannies.

i was grinding 5th gear, and i changed my fluid to GM synchromesh and the gringind stopped about 35 miles later. also, shifting threw out all the gears was much smoother...

forgot to add that the stuff was about 10 bucks a quart!!! but well worth in my opinion..

i just switched out mine not to long ago with honda mtf,and grinding in 3rd seemed to stop.it is a lot smoother shifting too.but like SteveB told me,no one makes Honda mtf like honda.they make it for hondas so they know best.it works great for me.

..since we are on the topic of trannies, anyone wanna tell me what's going on wit mine? There are times when it does'nt wanna shift into 2nd, or 1st. It shifts into the other gears just fine, but then i go to secon,d and it is almost like it doesn't exist. like the area it shifts into is not even there. To fix it, i gotta slam the clutch down, through the floorboard. Sometimes it happens, others it doesn't.. i know it's not fluid..i just bleed my clutch at work. I wanna figure out what it is..does the clutch linkage need ot be adjusted? is a syncro bad? I would think that part no, since first gear doesn't have a syncro..any ideas?

Okay heres tha deal you may have to change your slave cylinder for the clutch or the clutch master cylinder or both . But try to adjust it if you know how to first before you buy the stuff.

If you look under the dash where that line is on the pedal its than thin metal bar that goes through the firewall from inside of the car theres a little rubber seal if its wet or spits out little bubbles you may need a clutch master cylinder .

..from right behind the pedal? Wouldn't a new cylinder mean that there is a problem wit all the gears? I am only getting the problem with 1st or second..that's why i would think it's a linkage or syncro problem..

okay look at the ledal you see that thin bar goin from in into the firewall when you press the metal down that little bar that sticks in between the big bar do you see oil and little air bubles on that little gasket part that means you have to change it.
