From this point on until otherwise briefed, posting in the general section of Performance Tech is prohibited. The only thing to remain here will be the stickies. We would just delete this section, but that would cause unintended results.

The majority of the threads created can appropriately be placed in one of the Performance Tech sub-forums or Technical; and the posting of them here is detrimental to the activity of said forums. If you have any questions about where you need to place your thread PM me or one of the other mods.

For the most part you all have caught on without this post, but there have been a few habitual offenders that forced me to say this.

Everyone will get a couple of warnings from here on out, after that I just start deleting threads.

The first issue I had with XTD was the price. That always raises a flag.

Then when I actually saw one in person, it didn't look like much more than a stock clutch.

So I decided a long time ago that you would never find one on any car that I installed it into.

    Love the ACT though.

What's weird is that I know plenty of people that use these clutches and put out more than enough power and they are fine.

Well pricing is a big issue also. Some people cannot afford name brand clutches at the moment. And usually they just want one that will last them that was the ship I was in when doing my h22a. I needed everything to come in quick and on time which didnt happen as planned (so many parts backordered from honda) but yea I think its more of a price thing. You want a cheap clutch that can handle the power ratings you are shooting for. The stage 3 is a bit diff design compared to the 1/2. Mainly because of disk style. I also pulled out my Luk Clutch that I had in the car before (New and I killed it in 4 months ,fyi luk replacements dont like track abuse) and the xtd looked a lot sturdier. I also noticed on the luk the PP was gone basically and the TO bearing that came with it didnt look too bueno. This went for the same to the XTD for the TO bearing (using an OEM honda one) But from then on I have had no issues when launching with the xtd and so on. As mentioned with any clutch proper break in you should be fine. As I recall Jose just romped on his when he installed his stage 2 and it chatters like a mofo now =D Now thats called a quick break in lol.

i do understand that their product could be crap or nothing more than re-stickered OEM replacement. Im not defending XTD but in my case i had no issues with it at all after a proper break in and not beating it to hell all the time i have been fine for over a year. Hell, you could kill a brand name clutch like ACT or exedy if you dont break it in correctly and beat on it. It has a lot to do with the driver.

i cant wait till mines goes, then ill go with a fidanza clutch and flywheel. or act, since i could get real act clutches for a good price at my store. im sure the turbo will chew up the clutch fast.

I've actually heard more horror stories about ACT clutches than XTD. Their flywheels are good tho.

idk man. my cousin clutch was alright. he blew his tranny from hard shifts, but the clutch was alright.

i think im going to stick with the fidanza ceramic clutch. its probably going to cost me 400 bucks, but fuck it.

I didn't learn of this until recently, so who knows how long they've been going bad.

this sounds like an isolated incident
