Please DO NOT Post In The General Section

From this point on until otherwise briefed, posting in the general section of Performance Tech is prohibited. The only thing to remain here will be the stickies. We would just delete this section, but that would cause unintended results.

The majority of the threads created can appropriately be placed in one of the Performance Tech sub-forums or Technical; and the posting of them here is detrimental to the activity of said forums. If you have any questions about where you need to place your thread PM me or one of the other mods.

For the most part you all have caught on without this post, but there have been a few habitual offenders that forced me to say this.

Everyone will get a couple of warnings from here on out, after that I just start deleting threads.

Again if you have any questions, PM me or one of the other mods.

    Tuning Software

I'm thinking about investing in some tuning equipment for my build as well as for future tuning purposes. I think this is something I would like to get involved in and learn about. My question is primarily on software. I have been looking into eCtune. Is that an alright brand persay? Or is it all preference whether you like Crome, Uberdata, eCtune, ect.

I'm thinking my set up will consist of:
    eCtune software $150
    Ostrich 2.0 $175
    HULOG $35
    AEM wideband o2 $250
    some kind of ECU $50

    Total: $660

I like the idea of real-time tuning which is why I chose the ostrich 2.0 will I pretty much be set with this equipment? I figure I might as well get the best stuff I can afford so it will last me for a while.. and I'll take advantage or still getting presents for christmas

also, basemaps.. I would like to get just a stock f22 basemap and just learn from there, where can I purchase one or how could I make one?

if you're going to tell me to search, please don't post.

Check out Xenocron.com. Great hardware and excellent customer service.

They also have a stock F22B1 bin file that will work for a base map to start from. The bin file is free and it's in the Xenocron bin directory under H-series it's called Accord_F22B1......something. It's the only F22 bin in the directory.

As for your software/hardware list it looks good. You are going to end up paying more than $50 for a chipable ecu though. If your going to chip it yourself you could pick up a virgin P06 for $75-$100-$150 on ebay then you have to buy the chip set and chip it yourself. Or you can pay $175 for an already chipped OBD1 ECU from Xenorcon.

The DIY ECU chipping stuff from Xenocron is cheaper if you know how to solder electronics.

I have a pretty solid f22a map if anyone ever needs one.

The only think I'd change on that list is your wideband. I recommend any Innovative device or go with a PLX M300. THe AEM units tend to be off quite a bit.

oh, I thought you just plugged a chip in and then it worked www.xenocron.com has some pretty sweet stuff, I didn't realize crome cost so much less money than eCtune to buy. But I could probably steal an ECU from my local junk yard, we used to do it all the time.

I guess I'd like to start tuning my car by making maximum power through the power band with a deleted EGR valve that can still pass emissions, RI is killer for that kind of stuff. Would it be worth getting an unmolested ECU or should I get one already chipped and move from there?

excellent, maybe I'll just steal a perfectly new ECU for free money. Now I just need to learn how to chip. I just soldered my first thing in my electronics class, it didn't come out so well haha
