Please DO NOT Post In The General Section

From this point on until otherwise briefed, posting in the general section of Performance Tech is prohibited. The only thing to remain here will be the stickies. We would just delete this section, but that would cause unintended results.

The majority of the threads created can appropriately be placed in one of the Performance Tech sub-forums or Technical; and the posting of them here is detrimental to the activity of said forums. If you have any questions about where you need to place your thread PM me or one of the other mods.

For the most part you all have caught on without this post, but there have been a few habitual offenders that forced me to say this.

Everyone will get a couple of warnings from here on out, after that I just start deleting threads.

Again if you have any questions, PM me or one of the other mods.

    Pin 17 installation question

So I'm doing my A6 mani swap and I am installing the black box and I'm pretty sure I figured out where it goes, so my question is how do I put the wire in the plug, is there a type of metal clip I use I don't think I can just shove the wire in the plug and make it work. Any ideas on what to use and if you have any pictures and know were I can get such a thing please let me know. I went to radio shack and they did not have anything I could use. Thanks

What Your looking for are some Molex connectors from Digikey/electronics store
IIRC I ordered a bag of CONN TERM FEMALE 18-20AWG TIN - WM1914-ND

Or if you can find an old wire harness you could remove a wire from it and plug it into your ECU connector. All you need is a small flat tip screw driver to open the back of the ECU connector. Then you stick it in the back of the connector opening and unlock the tab. it takes some patience but it will come eventually.

So do you think that the cable goes in the same location as every other car whAt I'm saying is if I look at the harness from an a6 and see where the pink wire goes can I install it in the same location on a a1 harness or will it be a diffrent pin location.

IIRC the A1 wire harness doesn't have the wiring for the IAB and the A1 ECU won't have the IAB circuit installed ether. You need to add that wire to the A1 harness and you will also need a PT6 ECU.

I have the pt6 and the black box, let me say it in a diffrent way because I think I confused my self. If I look at the harness from an a6 and follow the wire all the way to the plug and see where the wire is connected at, will I plug my iab wire in the same location on the the car where the a1 use to be since that car never had the iab cable, I don't know if this sounds right. Can I just copy the location of one harness and place the wire in the same location on the other plug?

What plug? One inside the engine bay or the one at the ECU? If you are referring to the one at the ECU the IAB wire should go into pin A17

OBD1 ECUs are numbered like this

You SR are the man that's exactly what I was refering to, I have searched all over and have not been able to find anybody that could answer this question. The plug on the left is the one I was talking about,

So I got another question, were does the other wire go, I've read it's a 12 volt power wire and I can tap on to any 12 volt source. Is this correct or does this wire go to a diffrent location because I do not see the black and yellow wire on the ecu plug that's in the car.

What wire colours do you have coming off the IAB solenoid? and is your PT6 ECU a JDM or USDM model?

You could tap into any YEL/BLK (12v) wire that you see inside the engine bay.

It is a USDM pt6 and the two wires are pink and blue and the second is black and yellow.
