Please DO NOT Post In The General Section

From this point on until otherwise briefed, posting in the general section of Performance Tech is prohibited. The only thing to remain here will be the stickies. We would just delete this section, but that would cause unintended results.

The majority of the threads created can appropriately be placed in one of the Performance Tech sub-forums or Technical; and the posting of them here is detrimental to the activity of said forums. If you have any questions about where you need to place your thread PM me or one of the other mods.

For the most part you all have caught on without this post, but there have been a few habitual offenders that forced me to say this.

Everyone will get a couple of warnings from here on out, after that I just start deleting threads.

Again if you have any questions, PM me or one of the other mods.

    Running rich?

My car is idling most of the time at 13.5-14.0, I know the optimal a/f ratio is 14.7, so I was wondering if by having my car idling at those numbers if that's a real concern? There is also the ever present scent of gas coming from my car, could the fact that it's running a little rich be the cause of this smell?

That 2 me honesty isn't rich..I mean its not stoich..but even still.you really shouldn't be smelling gas if it infact is at those levels..ever think of an exhaust leak? Or fuel leak for that matter? Most cars are tune end up between mid 13s to mid 14s for idle..I try 2 shoot for 14.7-15.0 but don't make it a big deal 2..some cars idle happier at a slightly richer mixture..
I honestly wouldn't worry about it..airfuel wise.now gas smell wise.start looking..there's something going on somewhere.

you should be in the 14s on crusing, 12s in boost, and 15-16ish on idle. so yea, your running more fuel than you need.

All depends on tune, gas octane, and climate conditions.
I can run up to 13's in boost with no detonation, 15's in cruise, and 12 at idle.

Also a major factor in idle mixture is the ECT value.
When I first start my car cold, its 9.7ish
