Please DO NOT Post In The General Section

From this point on until otherwise briefed, posting in the general section of Performance Tech is prohibited. The only thing to remain here will be the stickies. We would just delete this section, but that would cause unintended results.

The majority of the threads created can appropriately be placed in one of the Performance Tech sub-forums or Technical; and the posting of them here is detrimental to the activity of said forums. If you have any questions about where you need to place your thread PM me or one of the other mods.

For the most part you all have caught on without this post, but there have been a few habitual offenders that forced me to say this.

Everyone will get a couple of warnings from here on out, after that I just start deleting threads.

Again if you have any questions, PM me or one of the other mods.

    MHI 16G specs

Ok, so I'm looking for the flow rate and pressure rate for the MHI EvoIII 16G turbo. I installed the 16G/14B onto my car it my ring lands blew. Oil was also coming out of my turbo into my charge pipes and intake. The forced performance filter / restrictor didn't do balls as far as reducing the pressure, I installed a industrial flow control on the turbo oil line and a pressure gauge as well. At idle my gauge to the turbo read 80 psi.

I know that's way too high. I reduced the pressure by limiting the flow of oil. The problem I'm running into is that with the pressure restricted at idle to 20 psi, when I reved up the motor the psi would still jump up to about 70-80 and I only reved it to about 4-5K.

I'm worried about blowing the next turbocharger. I WON'T DO IT, I know people just use a little ball valve to restrict the flow, but what about the pressure?

What pressure are the MHI 16G (EVOIII) rated for?
What's the flow rate for these turbos?
Should I use a pressure regulator instead of a flow control?

Why did you say 16g/14b? Those are two different turbos...

What are your mods? What does your setup look like? Check here for flow rates

I say 16G/14B because the 14B turbo housing fit's on the "16G" I bought from a guy. My understanding was the 16G's were noticeably bigger than the 14b and needed a different housing. I'm using a DSM setup, internal wastegate, 2.5" charge piping, 30x10x3 intercooler, Type RS blow off valve, 8lb flywheel, XTD stage 3 clutch (changing out soon), DSM injectors, CC removed, PS removed, AC removed, balance shafts are going to be removed, ESP solid motor mounts, 5 speed swap... theres more in my ride page.

I guess I should be more specific. I'm not looking for the flow rates of the turbo itself, but the oil consumption. How much oil can pass through the turbo at a given pressure. What's the max oil pressure these turbo chargers can see? The actual turbo AIR output isn't something I'm worried about. It's just the oil flow rate I'm more concerned. These turbos probably don't like to see 120 psi of oil pressure.

To be honest, I'm not sure on the amount of oil they can flow. That's something I'll have to look up and get back to you on. There was a thread I read not too long back about oil pressure and it being about 80psi at idle for some people and they had no problems. Let me see what I can find and I'll get back to you.

Also, the 14b and 16g use the same turbine housing because they are TD05H, with the exception that the 16g uses a 7cm housing...which is still interchangable with the 14b housing.

Not sure if you can find anything about oil pressure over there
