Please DO NOT Post In The General Section

From this point on until otherwise briefed, posting in the general section of Performance Tech is prohibited. The only thing to remain here will be the stickies. We would just delete this section, but that would cause unintended results.

The majority of the threads created can appropriately be placed in one of the Performance Tech sub-forums or Technical; and the posting of them here is detrimental to the activity of said forums. If you have any questions about where you need to place your thread PM me or one of the other mods.

For the most part you all have caught on without this post, but there have been a few habitual offenders that forced me to say this.

Everyone will get a couple of warnings from here on out, after that I just start deleting threads.

Again if you have any questions, PM me or one of the other mods.

    super charge???

i was just thinking about this. a h23 (yes i know they are kind of rare)
jackson supercharger. we have the clearance. why has no one done this yet?

that would be SO sick to pull up to a STI and rev up that SICK super charger wine in his face and jump so quick with that super charger low end torque.

    F22A1: 125 hp (93.21 4 kW) @ 5200 rpm. (Accord Dx,Lx) NOTE* The 1992-1996 Prelude S had a F22A1 but because of a different more aggressively tuned ECU (P12), the power output was 135 hp (140 kW).

    F22A1: 137 ft·lbf (186 N m) @ 4000 rpm

    those are stock numbers. /\

f22's tuned right, have the same torque as a built gsr. i would know. i had a stock f22 with exhaust that would regularly run +10hp/12tq and intake +8hp/8tq. we dyno'd and i was something like 3hp away from his 10:1 gsr. now i admit i had something like 140hp and he was like 210 or something.

but just think. MAJOR stock torque + super charger pull? who can say no to breaking your neck off the line. OR having so much torque you cant stay still?

oh man i mad my self excited!

i like your thoughts, if someone would do it. if i had the money to do this i would no doubt.

There is no way you are beating STIs/EVOs off the line. They will get you from a dead stop no matter how much hp you have in an Accord.
Because 1. An STI is AWD. Even if you have a 200hp advantage in an Accord, you can't launch like AWD and you will spin. 2. There is a good chance that the STI you pull up to isn't going to be stock. Those cars can have some serious 0-60 times that a Honda will never touch in street legal trim.

That being said, I would love to see you do a supercharger setup. Just saying, don't get your hopes too high.

Very correct, Torque is useless if you can't put it down.
All the turbo people here know about that.

ok i think i want to do this. any one else done this? or does any one know about super charging? if you build the motor...do you build for low or high compression? do you retard the timing like nitrous?

Sounds like the proper time to post a response of "search."

Supercharging is just another form of forced induction like turbocharging, so for the compression you would want...... RIGHT, low compression pistons.

I hope you actually do this. Saying you're going to build this is much different than actually doing it. The simple phrase of "build the motor" involves a lot of money and most bail out of the project when they find out their in too deep. Your talking big bucks, just keep that in mind and have fun.
Been a long time. Still alive...

I used to own a 02 Subaru WRX with all the STI goodies. It was right before the STI made it to state side. My 60" was 1.7 and I ran a 13.7. I spun all 4 tires and my car shifted right before I would move foward. Probably shitty track prep, but the I also lined up with a turbo EF9 with drag radials. The civic beat me off the line and had a better ET of 13.3.

NOW granted when i was about a car ahead he pulled HARD and just flew by.

From a roll is not off the line. I've taken Evos and STis with my nearly stock H22, because their AWD system becomes a drag at high speeds. Their strength is in the launch, and on rough/loose terrain.

Anyway, yes, the supercharged engine in that video a few posts up is an H23A (VTEC), from a JDM 6th gen Accord. Size-wise, it's about the same as an H22.

In order to fit that supercharger, the brake master cylinder needed to be altered. Firewall clearance is there, but the MC clearance wasn't. For the amount of money and effort needed to do it, you could probably make more power with a turbo. The only real reason to do it is just to say that you've done it. To my knowledge, nobody has supercharged the F22A. I'd rather see that done.

There are other ways to supercharge, too. Everyone thinks you need a kit... or a manifold-integrated blower. You don't. You can mount a supercharger in front of the engine, and intercool it like a turbo. The only tricky part when you close the throttle... you'll need a way to vent off the boost, or bypass the supercharger. I had a few ideas in the works, but I lost my motivation. It HAS been done by at least one member here, though... because he talked me into trying it!

Yea unless you are running a stripped Civic on drag tires, don't expect to take STIs off the line. I'd have to see it to believe it. especially modded STIs
Actually I take that back, most STI/EVO drivers don't expect an Accord to be fast so they probably will not launch hard and you may take them.

Honestly it is not rocket science to put a supercharger on an engine. You could do it in a couple of days if you sit down and think about everything you need to get started.
                        What you need to do:
-buy the jackson racing supercharger and put it on your engine. you may need to fab a bracket for the pulley but that should be self explanatory
-install clutch that can handle the power
-install injectors of proper size for your power goal
                        -install proper plugs
-install chipped ECU/engine management of your choice
-make a basemap to get the car started with the new injectors
-start the car and either tune it yourself if you know how/ or drive it to a tuner
                        -done

How much power are you planning on making with this? I bet you don't even need to build an engine. The F22 can take a lot of abuse with just rebuilt to stock specs. Don't even touch the engine until you make over 300hp.

Eh, the stock ringlands will go in a relatively short time at 250ish... At least that seems to be the trend.

The only issue with mounting a supercharger is making clearance with the BMC. OR, like I said, mounting it differently, and dealing with bleeding off the charge (intercooling makes this a very attractive option, as intercooling a manifold-integrated supercharger is difficult, and rather ineffecient.)

Most STi and Evo owners that care about their cars DON'T launch. Even in stock form, that's a pretty brutal amount of power put down to the ground instantly. The strain on the drivetrain is immense. People accuse STIs of having "glass differentials"... but that's not the case. The power delivery is just so sudden that it takes a toll!

There's a reason why the launch control feature on the GTR voided the warranty...

The civic that ran my WRX had full interior and a wings west kit with 16" or 17" wheels. I have it recorded somewhere. If I find it, I will up load it.

Also my WRX was getting pulled on like crazy on the freeway by swap B series Civic. It was embarrasing.

My friend has a JRSC leftover from his wrecked BB4. I could probably get it off him for a few bucks. How do you mount the master cylinder differently? Do you remember the solutions?
