Please DO NOT Post In The General Section

From this point on until otherwise briefed, posting in the general section of Performance Tech is prohibited. The only thing to remain here will be the stickies. We would just delete this section, but that would cause unintended results.

The majority of the threads created can appropriately be placed in one of the Performance Tech sub-forums or Technical; and the posting of them here is detrimental to the activity of said forums. If you have any questions about where you need to place your thread PM me or one of the other mods.

For the most part you all have caught on without this post, but there have been a few habitual offenders that forced me to say this.

Everyone will get a couple of warnings from here on out, after that I just start deleting threads.

Again if you have any questions, PM me or one of the other mods.

    Auto turbo wagon

I know that there have not been very many successful turbo accords with automatic transmissions... I just wanted to post my results of 2 months of driving on 8 lbs with a 16g... it idles like a stock car and accelerates smooth... ive done some highway pulls and it actually moves pretty well for such a big car... i try to granny the car majority of the time mainly because i wanna get the most life out of the tranny but i have a 5 speed swap sittin in the garage for whenever it starts slipping... all in all it runs great and its kind of a sleeper...

I only hear the Prelude/Accord autos weren't very good to begin with and can barely handle an H's VTEC. No surprise there aren't any real auto boost builds here. It's cool that yours has been successful though, that combo of turbo power and the comfort of an auto sounds nice .

Ive been wondering about this Im planning on boosting mine soon. But if my tranny goes south I got the 5sp swap parts ready to go to. I may just have to give this a try with the old autoragic.

Our automatic transmissions are great. Honda did a fantastic job designing them. The problem isn't in the strength or build quality, but in the maintenance history of most of them. Most people are smart enough to change their engine oil, but very few people (that I've known personally, and from reports on here) ever think to change their transmission fluid on a regular basis. Our transmissions are very sensitive to the proper fluid, so people who do change the fluid will very often have it done at a local shop or Jiffy Lube, and they won't be running Honda fluid.
Maintenance is usually the culprit for failing transmissions, not quality.

One reason why people don't like to boost autos is that tuning the ECU is a bit more difficult. Rootbeer91, what did you use for tuning?

yea me and you talked about the tuning issue a while back deev... im tuned on crome... my tuner said he could do so i gave him a chance and so far so good... and i personally have not changed the tranny fluid altho my car was very well maintained prior to me owning it so its possible that its been done... i myself have avoided changing it because of things i had read a few months back... i think it said something about the fluid becoming accustomed to the tranny and vice versa... sorry if im mistaken its been at least 6 months since i read about it... im tryin to sell the car so i dunno if ill get to do my 5 speed swap...

I would definitely change the fluid. Just drain and replace, rather than a "flush". Flushing it is what causes problems. That old fluid's lubrication properties are probably seriously compromised due to use, especially with the increased torque provided by the turbo (and the heat that surely comes with it.)

That's good that your tuner was able to make it work, though. That shows that he knows what he's doing. Many of the amateur tuners on here won't do it.

I've never worked on an auto myself, so I can't say for sure... but I believe all you need to do is drain and refill. Do it a few times to ensure you get all the old stuff out of there. That's technically a flush, but done the right way. I believe there are machines that can "flush" it for you... and that's what you do not want.

if your trans oil has been changed in the past on regular basis, then yes do change it. but if in the past no one has touched that trans oil, then leave it be.

but wow a turbo auto cb7.

If your gonna turbo an auto i would get the h22a auto lsd tranny. They can handle the abuse. And a larger tranny cooler.
