Please DO NOT Post In The General Section
From this point on until otherwise briefed, posting in the general section of Performance Tech is prohibited. The only thing to remain here will be the stickies. We would just delete this section, but that would cause unintended results.
The majority of the threads created can appropriately be placed in one of the Performance Tech sub-forums or Technical; and the posting of them here is detrimental to the activity of said forums. If you have any questions about where you need to place your thread PM me or one of the other mods.
For the most part you all have caught on without this post, but there have been a few habitual offenders that forced me to say this.
Everyone will get a couple of warnings from here on out, after that I just start deleting threads.
Again if you have any questions, PM me or one of the other mods.

maintaining a boosted engine?

Well, the mani and o2 dump are big cast pieces which get super hot, the 14b's heat properties cause problems! And they dont produce much power compared to 16g or t3 etc.! SMIC's dont even compare to FMIC's as far as reducing intake air temps and ease of installation not to mention looks lol! (mine is all black) No probs with 450cc's theyre great for us, easy to install and perfect for our fuel needs! (well mild setups anyway)

yeah im not planning anything major, I went with the 14b cause its readily available and I dont want to make too much power. I was hoping to boost maybe 5 psi. Most likely will go Fmic...
and whenever im driving I usually keep the rpms down anyway to save gas, some people say the 14b is too small (for our engines) and spools up way too early...do you find this a problem?

No. def use a fmic and like 2" piping on hot side and 2-2.5" on cold side!
The 14b is also a bit harder to tune for reliability! But meh!
The daily driving or trying to keep out of boost is not easy for two reasons one is cause the transition into boost starts early as 2300rpm for me! also my current map needs work(tuning) around 2300-3000 at partial throttle(15-5 in/hg) But other than tuning it is fine!
two would be its hard cause its so damn fun! And theres nothing like feeling others envy, and Im not even that fast! Just people round here dont think NA cars should be turboed, and most of them think power is varied by # of cylinders. Pff v-8s got nuthin!
PS: dsm 14b stock wastegate is sprung for 8psi! So Id say shoot for that!

Not that you guys should follow my foolishness but i've barely done an oil change in the last 6000 miles LOL! My valve steam seals keep eating up the oil so i just keep pouring new oil back in...but that oil filter has been on there for quite some time now lol. Other than that for maintenance...nothin

Centreforce dual friction! Inexpensive. Very easy to drive but allows me to beat the crap out of it. And reuse it a few times! Didnt want to but couldnt afford new one and it was still like 70%!Last edited by westsideaccord; 05-29-2006, 06:30 PM.

DO IT! LOL
Turbo is a infectious bug that bites the best of us! IT is alot of fun and keeps me occupied! Making sure all is well and constantly gaining knowledge of Cb7's and even other cars! Shite I may be "turboing" a '66 ford custom (basically a two door galaxie with window frames for rigidity!) with a straight 6! It would sure help his mid power! (has no top end and doesnt wanna make it real fast, due to 4" whitewall coker's and shorter gearing in the diff!) Have fun though, dont stress!
