Please DO NOT Post In The General Section

From this point on until otherwise briefed, posting in the general section of Performance Tech is prohibited. The only thing to remain here will be the stickies. We would just delete this section, but that would cause unintended results.

The majority of the threads created can appropriately be placed in one of the Performance Tech sub-forums or Technical; and the posting of them here is detrimental to the activity of said forums. If you have any questions about where you need to place your thread PM me or one of the other mods.

For the most part you all have caught on without this post, but there have been a few habitual offenders that forced me to say this.

Everyone will get a couple of warnings from here on out, after that I just start deleting threads.

Again if you have any questions, PM me or one of the other mods.

This isn't as bad as the guy who wanted to hook up a VTEC controller to his F22A so he could add VTEC to it.

      Toda cams

      The toda cams lope, yes.

I was wondering if a stock v-tec cam with stock duration and lift would lope. The Toda ones are quite aggressive compared to stock (I assume)

Thats why I was wondering if the stock ones would lope.

I would love to hear it idle in vtec too lol

Note to noobs: you CANNOT connect VTEC to any switches.. ONLY your ECU!

          Actually...

You can hook v-tec up to anything that will throw a 5 volt signal to the solenoid to open.

So you could hook it up to anything listed, even the brake pedal if you use the break switch...

it is a poor mans way of adjusting where the vtec engages when he doesn't have an ecu chipped to do it properly

but even in that situation...i doubt the "mods" if any would warrant altering the engage point. You usually have to have some decent mods to warrant that "ability"

Hmmm no you can't. The ECU has to switch to the hi-cam fuel and timing table when vtec engages... I'm sure you already know that
but some noobs think you can just hook it up to any switch... that is why I said that

Technically you could actuate the VTEC solenoid with any 5v switch. But like you said, the ECU will not make the proper fuel or timing adjustments. Therefore, installing a manual VTEC switch and engaging it at any time other than set from the factory is pointless. It may even end up harming your engine if run for extended periods of time with improper fuel and ignition.

right...it's not JUST the actuator that is affected...

I'm not sure about this but might mention it. Long time ago this came up about having VTEC engaged all the time and main problem was oil pressure. Mainly due because the sys has to have enough pressure to operate properly, and usually in low rpms you don't have that pressure. Weather or not this is true I have no idea not sure how creaditable the source was.

Yes saying it lopes is a big understatement. Just looked a few up and wow, sounds good, kinda reminds me of my truck with the cam it has.

I really love all of this.
I always wondered about all the different ways to make VTEC engage when you want it... instead of having to wait.

Cause hooking vtec to a switch is stupid. Why not hook vtec up to a clapper and just slap your self in the face every time you race
