Please DO NOT Post In The General Section

From this point on until otherwise briefed, posting in the general section of Performance Tech is prohibited. The only thing to remain here will be the stickies. We would just delete this section, but that would cause unintended results.

The majority of the threads created can appropriately be placed in one of the Performance Tech sub-forums or Technical; and the posting of them here is detrimental to the activity of said forums. If you have any questions about where you need to place your thread PM me or one of the other mods.

For the most part you all have caught on without this post, but there have been a few habitual offenders that forced me to say this.

Everyone will get a couple of warnings from here on out, after that I just start deleting threads.

Again if you have any questions, PM me or one of the other mods.

P28 would work for the f22b1 and if you want to tune it later on that would be the better ecu to use. But to engage vtec without an ECU on it your kinda fucked on that one.

you could actually do just what you want.

some guy in town is running around like that. He can pretty much engage vtec whenever he wants to with a switch.

fucking stupid imo. just hook it up to the ecu, its not hard at all.

            .

he wanted to have VTEC without the ecu enabling it. so how is that? lol!

imo just slap on a vtec sticker and u will have vtec...thats what the kids do around my town. im thinking of doing it.

yea, he can make a switch that he enables himself.

normally, the ecu reads off by rpms and speed and engages vtec. he can make a switch that he can turn on whenever he wants to.

thats what i meant, that he CAN do what he wants to do by making a switch.

Actually Jose is right, you can use an rpm activated switch to turn on vtec whether it be an msd switch/vafc/or a generic rpm switch...I won't go into more detail but in no way is that close to optimal especially if you plan to boost. Run a chipped p28, you are going to have to get a chipped ecu either way if you plan on getting tuned

i not wanting to hook it up permently like this. i plan on getting the proper ecu for it but someone told me you can hook it to the tps so when you mash the gas it will engage or a switch not even a rpm switch, if the tps thing is correct what wire turns hot a wot

After reading this, I found an rpm activated switch at Summit Racing for ~$40. I'm hoping to use it to open my H22's IABs just before VTEC since my P28 doesn't support the function.
The switch runs off a tach signal and puts out a ground at any rpm from 2-10k. You could probably use that to cut VTEC on by the solenoid and the vtec oil sender somehow (???), and you'd have to move your rev limit somehow...

You'd have to know what kind of signal the ECU was sending and duplicate it.
It would be interesting to know, I was just thinking you could adjust the vtec cut on with this cheap switch instead of a VAFC .

Dosent the ECU change air/fuel curves during vtec, so if you just hook it up to a switch, will you be getting the full effect of vtec?
