    extended wheel studs installation

I have read the 2 DIY threads on wheel studs and neither answer my question.....

Can extended wheel studs be installed WITHOUT removing the hub? Need to know for front and back on an EX. I NEED to replace all my studs either way and oem length studs are not much if any cheaper. I am a fan of the extended stud look anyway.

Have been told on a Civic or Integra the hubs have to be removed which results in having to replace the bearings....DO NOT want to have to replace bearings at $60 plus each! LOL

I dont remember removing the hub when i did mine. Although the rears were a bigger PITA than the fronts were.

Awesome, hope that is the case. I would be surprised to see that much of a difference between the Civic\Teg suspension and the Accord (since they are very similar) but if there is enough clearance to install the extended studs without removing the hubs....im all over that! Thanks

Yeah I get that, was wondering if anyone has installed extended studs without removing the hubs. Def need to find out before spending $50 on longer studs and find out its gonna be more costly to install

for the rears you dont, just take off the wheel..

for the front, in my diy, i did it with everything off..i did it because i had extra parts, but i dont think it would be that hard to do with everything on..

Yeah I read your DIY, good job....surprised the rear is doable but good to know....if nothing else its not too bad if I only have to replace 2 hubs\bearings as opposed to all four. Ill pull off the wheels this weekend and look at things. Thanks!

I'm wondering myself on this topic. I have had arp extended studs for at least a year and I did a thread about this a while ago and I'm still unsure about the replys I got. No one really could tell me that do you neen to press out some hubs or not.

Love your CB! Hopefully Ill be able to tell just by doing some basic research this weekend but I dont have the studs to test or work with.

for the front you do not have to press out the bearings out of the hubs..for the rear, its gona take some creative thinking..

i bent my dust shield a little out of the way after i removed the screws that hold the shield in place..for the front, its easies to take the knuckle assembly out of the car and do it that way..it will save a big hassle of fighting for room with all the other suspension on it..

You do not need to replace your bearings if you remove you hubs. You would only need to replace them if they are bad or if you some how mees them up while pulling the hubs.

and that statement makes PERFECT sense to me yet ive asked a few people that have done this on Civics and Integras and all say the bearing needs replacement when you pull it. I think they may be damaging the bearing but then if thats the case what is the trick to pulling it without hurting it. Haynes manual makes it sound like it will slide right off with no issues.

                          Maybe Civic/Integra ones are shittier?

The fronts were a little hard but the rears were probably more trouble because of the dust shields. But i got to thinking about it and i didnt remove the hubs.

Awesome......easiest is important anyway and no sense in replacing bearings until I need to or have the extra funds. Studs and lug nuts alone will run me $100+ and thats being somewhat conservative. Plus tires for my new wheels....need a camber kit...too many things at once! lol

                            Thanks!
