So the deal for the Koni's I posted last week fell through. So I am looking at getting some Koni str's instead and was wondering what is the best spring to give me the look of the Race springs? Since there are the same as the yellows on soft can I just get the race springs? I mean I see a few people saying they run their yellows on soft with Race springs so that being said could it be done with the str's?? Someone has had to have done this How does it ride?? Thanks for any info/insight you can provide.

they are generally regarded as koni yellows, set a little harder than full soft. so they are a "soft medium".
for duration purposes is not the best strut to match up to a spring rate of close to 500, or higher if you have coilover sleeves.
probably the best combo for koni oranges, would be a springrate between 250 and 380 front, and about 150-266 rear. with those spring rates, (or softer), they could outlast your use of the car easily, (10 years ++).
now the thing to realize though is that lifetime warranty
so time is not really a factor as much as knowing when they could begin to malfunction: and koni's have a GREAT rep.
will the STRT struts blow with a set of rce springs, (450+ front, 330+rear)? my guess would be not for at least 3 years. but it would be something to pay increased attention to.
"race" springs do not provide a different look to your car versus other branded springs, they just have a significantly increased spring rate. there are some springs out there with an almost equal rated drop to the usual 2.2 front, 2.0 rear, that most race springs offer.
here is a nice thread to compare the springrates, and drop rates. unfortunatley, nobody has gotten any info as to how soft/hard oem spring rates are. but i would personaly wager a guess that they are between the two spring rates offered by the TEIN brand drop springs.Last edited by KB7; 05-28-2011, 09:01 AM._
