well you are going to need some struts since your stock ones wont be able to handle that kind of drop for too long.....also a camber kit...

I think it really changes from car to car, some can go for weeks some for much less, some for more, it all depends. If you're strapped for cash, just ride out your stock struts and change them later, or else most convenient would be to change everything now.

this isnt my first import but it is the first one i have had a chance to do anything on. had a 93 4dr dx couple of years ago but it drowned in a real bad storm we had. i have the money now to just lower it but will have more money soon for the struts.

It really depends on your situation because if you are doing the work yourself then you are going to save some money, and you can take the route of replacing springs first then struts later. If you plan on paying someone to install you benefit more by replacing both at once.

Chances are your stock struts are already dead if they are oem. When I pulled out my stock suspension I could push the struts down and they wouldn't even come back up.

You need to get an alignment done after the drop. That is the most important thing to do. Read the sticky FAQ at the top of this section, it will tell you everything you need to know.

get some new struts, either kyb agx or koni's. get a camber kit (preferably inglas), repalce strut mounts (only a few bucks/side), if u have the time and money, replace ball joints, and finaly get an alignment. u really don't need a spring compressor but to be safe u can get one at autozone for free....(pay nowe, when u return u get money back), and yes basic hand tools are a must. definately do it yourself. even if ur completely car phobic/stupid u can drop your car within a few hrs. Plz just do the whole thing at once, will saveu time and money replacing things. Do it right the first time, u won't be sorry.
