    E-Brake light constant on

It has since gone off, but my drive to and from work, my e-brake "BRAKE" light was on. It wasnt bright as if the e-brake was engaged, but just lit up.

First though was possibly a frozen caliper.

Anyone else had this happen? What was the cause?

For now, i'll let it go, but if it comes on again, im gonna have to give it a look.

Yep low brake fluid usually indicates a leak, or worn brake pads

          What about too much fluid...?

Im not sure how but the reservoir is to the top. WAY above the "MAX" line. I'll get it back down to the proper level, but i dont think that would trip that light.

Pads are ok. I probably could use new ones, but the current ones are in ok condition.

Thats the thing. It IS the e-brake light. When it comes on, its faint. If i pull the e-brake, it comes on BRIGHT. Since the e-brake runs off the rears, thats what made me think its something going on back there. One of my rear cailpers froze up on me once and i had to replace it, but the light never came on...

It did it briefly today, but it went off.

Usually the light comes on when you need new pads and a fluid flush.....

If your gonna get new pads either change the rotors or get your old ones resurfaced.......

No too much fluid won't cause it, Another problem that sometimes occurs is the float on the brake fluid cap fills and sinks, Disconnect the cap and put a split pin in. If the light goes out, It's probabally the float or float switch

the ebrake switch might just be going bad. Try playing with it, its under the ebrake cover.
                  wat?

X2 on the ebrake switch, these cars are getting old, it may be stuck, or possibly some wire from it got exposed and is rubbing against metal

Sunday is my only day off this week. Might get out there and see if thats it. If that is it and i cant find a replacment, ill just remove it. I dont need to know when the E-brake is on.

Btw I was told it might have something to do with the fluid like someone mentioned above.

I have that same problem with mine. I was told before that it had to do with the adjustment of the e-brake cable. I am going to try and adjust it this weekend.

                            My fluid level is/was fine.

I tried toying with the switch and that did nothing. I didnt replace it, so...

Never thought about the cable(s). Ive had mine tightened several times, and the last time i was told that it cant/wont get any tighter. That might have something to do with it. Anyone know if its possible, or how hard it is to replace e-brake cables?

Was the handbrake adjusted correctly or just tightened?
You need to remove the pads, wind the pistons back and loosen the handbrake cable right off.
Make sure the handbrake is on the stopper pin (at the calipers)
Then fit the pads back in, and pump the brake pedal 50+ times.
THEN tighten up the handbrake cable
