I accidentally switched the oil pressure sender and knock sensor wires. Other then that she fired right and ran great! Oh wait, I accidentally installed the rear main seal dry and ended up having to pull the motor a week later to replace it. That was a big goof up on my part.

Set up the new wiring with the engine out of the call to save you a lot of trouble. I didnt even receive the iab box with the motor and i have yet to put it on.

and i think you mean the headswap the other way around. if you have a h22, you wouldnt want to swap on a non-vtec h23 head. or maybe you would... iono

My swap has been great with minor probs. I got a very slight rattle wich I still dont know coming from the engine, and a oil leak wich I just need a new gasket for. Other than that feels like a champ!

i thought swappin for a h23 head was the way to go, to get benefit and power of h23 head (more torque, better for turbo applications, etc)...

i mean, im no expert, but ive heard this dozens of times..."get an h22, swap an h23 head, turbo that bitch! youll get like 400-500 horse!"

edit: isnt the h22 head weaker internally, and not suitable for turbo? im pretty sure the h23 has more torque (actually i think the h23 engine has more torque than HP too)...im not totally sure, and its too late for me to search now...i gotta get some sleep!

No, It's H22 head with H23 block. That way u get more displacement and vtec.

PURCHASED NOVEMBER 1991. THAT'S RIGHT, I'M THE ONE AND ONLY OWNER. BEAT THAT!

ive got small stupid problems. First i didnt switch those two ect wires. Its running rich, but a chipped ecu via bustedlx should get it running better.

h22sp: que? can you rephrase the statement. lol, i know what im doin, and if not....my friends a pro (hes gon help me cuz hes doin it too + hes a service mechanic)

edit: dude i just looked it up. h23 is DOHC vtec and it comes from JDM 92-96 Prelude, so what are u talkin about losing vtec?

                            also the 96-2001 H22a produces 202hp@6800rpm/161lb@5500, why would i want 160hp@5800/156lb@4500 from the H23a1?

im lookin into gettin a 97+ lude engine, and then i want to turbo it...but still this tread is about problems after the swap, were kinda goin off topic somewhat.

from what i heard, the h23 head is stronger for turbo. correct me if im wrong. thats all im sayin .

The 97-01 USDM H22A puts out 190, the JDM puts out 200. As for why you would want a less powerful motor, the H23, thats what we are all trying to figure out. Thats why I was saying you dont want the H23 head, you want the block. Also, if you want a 97-01 H22A, you need to be aware that its a lil less tuner friendly and you need to convert your car to OBD2. I personally dont know if the head on the H23A is "better" then the H22A head.

Hmm... I just looked it up, and although i found a ton of non VTEC H23s i also found a blue top H23 that says its VTEC. Interesting. WTF did that thing come in?
