    h22 manual tensioner conversion

    hi

I bought a Manual Tensioner Conversion Kit for H22A Series Engines from irp and have her installed but i am having issues installing the timing belt. We have attempted to install with the roller at the bottom applying little tension and still is a difficult task to put her on the cam gears, in short i cant without a timing belt slider or something. I noticed the roller is larger than the original auto tensioner rolller so i thought a h23 timing belt would do the trick but the teeth do not match up. Any thoughts

Also im puting this on a h22a4 not h22a

every one has trouble with it. its really tight! just put the belt edge on the cam/crank/WP then pull the edge to the tensioner pully

Thanks ill try it tomorrow. Would you happen to know a tool or method to help me keep the gears aligned. The Intake cam is slightly ahead of the exhaust.

Clamp some vice grips on at the point where they're closest to touching?

as long as you align the marks you shouldnt need to hold the gears still.

We solved it, i wanted a holder cause having cylinder 1 at tdc ment that either cycl 3 or 2 cam lobs were on there rockers thus fighting back, but we fixed it. I also working on a friends h22a 98 prelude and just fired her up today with success. thanks for the reply's guys.
