Is it a good idea? Not really. There's really no good reason to do such a swap. It's kinda like having your dick shortened. Sure, it can be done (in theory), and it will still work... but why?
I think ive read somewhere that doing this swap with the non-vtec h23 head and h22 block comes out giving you more tq than just the stock h22 but i could be wrong. Im actually thinking of doing this also.
Get an F22B twin-cam. The H22's power is in its head, hence why the larger H23 isn't already more powerful. For more torque, I think you're getting the equation backwards and read about the 23 with the VTEC head. Geez, I had to completely revise my response twice while getting my head around such an absurd hybrid.

You "read somewhere", and you're thinking of doing it? How about learning exactly what you're talking about before tearing into your engine. Slapping a head with less flow capability onto a block with smaller displacement isn't going to do anything good... where do you see an increase in torque?
People put the H22 head on the H23 block... more displacement = more torque (of course, that's not a great idea either, because the compression ratio and redline both drop... and you don't want either to happen with the h22 head.)

Again, "in theory"... half an erection, weak sauce.
It'd still be full... just smaller.
But you're right with everything else. The H22 is made to rev, and have a large powerband due to VTEC. The H23 has no VTEC, but has more displacement.
The H22 block will offer higher compression, but less displacement. Most likely, you'll get a block that will rev higher, create power slightly later, and not be matched to the head's flow.

Do you really need to make a thread asking if having your car like this /---\ will cause uneven tire wear? Try walking like that for a few weeks and see if your shoes wear funny! (hint: they will.)
Wife: "Why do you get G power platinum and i only get V power?" Me:"Cause i have the high compression 93 octane only H22 and you have the bullet proof F22." Wife:........................"But yours are prettier" --------------------------------------------------- Wife:Baby, not everybody wants to do the 93 conversion" Me:YES THEY DO, THEY JUST DON'T KNOW IT YET.
