    5 speed swap problems...

ok so i have a question im sure someone can answer.

Has any one had and clutch slipping problems after doing a 5 speed swap?

If my memory serves me correctly i thought i had seen on here (cb7tuner) somewhere in a thread(obv in a thread somewhere) about the clutch lines not being big enough not allowing proper flow, or something along those lines and a DIY on how to correct the problem. I have read the DIY swap threads and have found nothing.

The lines are plenty big, very little flow is actually needed for a clutch, being a hydraulic system.

What do you mean by slipping? If you are having the issue while you are completely off of the clutch pedal, then it automatically cannot be anything associated with the clutch master or slave cylinders.

I thought i had seen something on there about it but i could have been wrong n you have a good point.

the other day, starting from a full stop, acceled and i had let out the clutch in mid turn nice n easy and it took it a few seconds to fully engage. like a slipping effect. n i checked the fluid level and it was low but not empty. topped it off and so far has not done it. i am using break fluid right now tho. would that cause any problems? also i find it weird that i have to top it off from time to time.

i just 5 sp swap new master/slave and new clutch
i think its the adjustment rod on the clutch pedal to master cyl.

Did you possibly change the real seal while you were in there. I remember doing this on mine and considering it was my first time doing this, I didn't do it right. Car worked fine for about a week and then it hit. My clutch started slipping due to my seal breaking loose and it saturated and ruined my disk.

Yup rear main seal buddy. Went to my friends garage he was replacing one. Dude said it would take every gear and all but slip. Not like when the clutch is completely gone that you can't shift.

If you are constantly topping up your clutch reservoir you have a leak in the system somewhere.

Is this a brand new clutch and flywheel or used? If it is new they have a break-in period and may slip if not broken in properly. If it is used, did you check to make sure the clutch surface wasn't glazed over or worn out? You should have had the flywheel resurfaced if it was used as well.

                    Edit:

Could also try adjusting your clutch pedal.

ill check the adjustment rod first, the clutch n reservoir thing are from az also, i believe the slave slender is oe. ill be able to look at this on tues, dont work that day. last time i pulled the engine the flywheel seemed fine. it hasn't acted up sense ive topped it off.

thanks for all the responses guys this is gonna help alot!

                        update

an update on this, ive read the haynes manual and i would describe it as stumbles on acceleration, it suggest fouled plugs, fuel injection system, clogged filter n so on. plugs look like car has been running hotter than it should be so im gonna look into t-stats that open at cooler temps and royal purple ice, also i believe i still have the fuel filter that the car came with. the VSS stopped working about 280xxx miles n i believe it has closer to 300xxx miles on it. still loosing clutch fluid n i have a good idea of the area where it could be leaking from, its very slow leak.
