    Head swap

Ok so my friend in Atlanta has a cd5 and wants more power out of his f22b2. So I said put a a6 head on it I'm sure it bolts right up but now that I'm thinking about his harness prolly won't hook up to the a6 itm right? If anyone has any ideas let me know any modifying? Let me know

The F22B2 intake manifold and exhaust manifolds will not match the A6 head. Also depending on whether or not his CD is OBD1 or 2 will also make a difference in the TDC & CKP sensors (distributor or oil pump mounted) that will be used.

The head itself bolts right on no mods needed, it's the external stuff that requires some swapping as well.

That would be a great swap assuming he would try to push the envelope a little further than simply the stock head.

This is simply based in theory as it is effectively reversing the logic of an F22B1/2 into a CB7. Also, it's only relevant for an OBD1 '94-'95 Accord. But, it would make sense that he could swap pins A6 and A11 from their respective locations in the ECU harness and run the PT6 ECU. Then include the F22A6 or H23A1 intake manifold and wrap the CD5 harness around that combination. The IAB wiring would have to be added to that harness just as it is with an H22A swap. Use the distributor that came with the car.

Again, only theory, but it seems sound.

He will also need the F22a thermostat housing.

Simply bolting up an F22A6 head is a LOT of work to gain just 10hp. A camshaft regrind for the F22B2 would be far easier, and much more cost effective.

I feel partially responsible for hyping up the superiority of the F22A head. It IS a great head, and has amazing flow potential... but without a proper port & polish and a performance valve job (and all the supporting mods to take advantage of the extra flow capability), it's really not much better than any other. A stock F22A head isn't much of an upgrade for anything at all.
