    What transmission do I have

I have recently bought my Accord. It came with a jdm h22a conversion. However, I am trying to work out what transmission I have. As far as I can see the code is missing from the box. Going by where the workshop manual I have says it should be. I will take some pics tomorrow.

Are there any hints as to what box I have? Speed at certain revs?

    The non-LSD trans is a M2A4
The LSD trans is a M2B4

Those are the ones I know, and if I'm wrong, please correct me.

Yeah I've seen the list in the faq. However, I'm wondering if there is a way to tell if the code is missing from the box? Does someone have a pic of where the code is located on the box? Should it be obvious? The obvious place to me is just bare metal.

Yep it's missing. So is there any way of telling what transmission I have without the code? thanks guys

If its REALLY important, you could post some RPM/MPH/Gear numbers on here for us to find out.

            An example would be:

5th Gear, 70 MPH, 2800 RPM. We could pretty easily figure out what kind of trans. it was going by those numbers since its a manual.

As for the LSD, I've heard that there is "LSD" stamped somewhere on the back of the transmission case near the differential. Of course, the hilljack way to find out would be to drop the clutch, peel the tires and see how many skid marks you get.

            One= non-LSD, Two = LSD.

Ok so I'm bumping this WAAAAAY back up because I'm still not sure what box I have and I'm looking at doing some mods to it or swapping to an M2B4. I'm fairly sure I don't have an h22a box because of the speeds I get to in each gear and because I drop out of VTEC by a fair amount when shifting. Here are some rough gear/speed numbers that I can remember:

              1st Gear, ~35 MPH, ~7400RPM
              2nd Gear, ~68 MPH, ~7400RPM
              3rd Gear, ~100 MPH, ~7400RPM

              Does this help much? Thanks

That sounds a lot like my tranny setup. You probably have the M2Y4. I have started researching some mods for my tranny lately. One of the things I've learned is that the final drives available will not work with factory LSD, which would be the M2B4, and the type SH which I think is the M2U4 that has the ATTS (Automatic Torque Transfer System). I believe the ATTS is slightly different from the LSD and not recommended for H22 swaps anyway.

So long story short, I'm glad I don't have the M2B4 because I'll end up getting the MFactory final drive and Mfactory LSD for just over the average cost of a JDM LSD tranny that usually goes for 1000-1200 on ebay.

At this point I'm looking at the 4.64 final drive. It drops almost 25mph off of top speed, but I autocross my car so top speed doesn't matter to me.

Thanks for the input. Yeah, I have thought about what you're saying about the cost of doing the full upgrade with my current box vs getting the m2b4. I have just been worried about whether an aftermarket lsd and gears would fit my box if I don't know what one it is. Like if I have an f22 box.

The F and H trannys use the same aftermarket LSD. At least the Quaiffe has the same part number listed for both... And the final drives are interchangeable between F and H, but I don't think any of the other gears are interchangeable. I have an H2U5 with Quaiffe LSD and M2F4 final drive (4.266), so I know that it works...
