    Could I use a '91 donor car for a '93 auto->man swap?

    I've heard that the 90-91 Accords are slightly different than the 92-93 Accords, but those differences are only cosmetic, right? Would all the parts fit, or would I have to buy some new ones? Would the ECU from the '91 EX's engine (F22A6, right?) work for the '93 DX's F22A1, or are there differences other than the exhaust header? Lastly, is there any way to not have to weld the tranny mount? I think that's the only thing that's really stopping me, since I have no clue how to do that and no equipment.

    Thanks.

    Dont use the 90 accord parts, their shifter is different some how, i dont know how but slightly different. other then that you can use all other parts..91 ex is f22a4.

    and you do have to weld the tranny mount, sorry to tell you.

      you can drill out the welds on that tranny bracket and then pry it off. to line up the new one best thing is probably to put the tranny back in and see where that bracket lines up. then have someone tack it, take the tranny back out and then he can weld it in permanently. it's not as bad as it sounds. i dont know how to weld either, but you can have it done fairly cheap.

        *dameska: What exact swap are you doing for your 5sp. conversion? Going w/ H22? Something to keep in mind is that I hear 90-91 is OBD-0 & 92-93 is OBD-I. I'm not 100% sure but that would definitely make a difference if you were planning to use the ECU off a 5sp. 90-91.

        As for the 5sp. trans. mount, I welded mine (jdm h22a & 5sp. conversion all at once). I saw a thread here that a member (Accord SiR I think) did not weld his mount. I'd pass on the link but couldn't find it. Best way is to mount all the other 3 mounts, drop the motor in, & line up the trans. mount so you know exactly where it's suppose to be (eliminating all the guess-work as bgibson99 said). My mount was welded w/ the motor still in-place (wasn't bad at all).

        As for the rest of your questions, run a search or look below:

        *phatdoughnut: How is the shifter different? I'm in a 92ex w/ a 90-91 gear box (everything from the shifter to the washers & bolts). Shifts great. Everything bolts up perfectly w/out a hitch so don't know about what your saying.

          i think the folks that don't change the bracket retap bolt holes in the M/T case that will line up with the bracket that's already in there. That's the only other way i know to do it, but retapping holes in my transmission case seemed to risky to me.. haha you might have a steadier hand though.
