    h22a trans, couple questions

Hey I have a jdm h22a trans, most likely bad but havent opened it up yet (waiting on my buddy to help with it who knows more about trannys), i know that a new trans is 550 (non lsd), but my old one had LSD, now could i put the LSD from the old one into a new jdm trans without LSD? assuming that all of the LSD parts are still ok out of the old one?

Also, i was driving my car and in 1st gear doing about 20 the wheels locked up, and the car came to a stop, it will not shift into any gears, and when in neutral, i let off the clutch and it starts to move forward, any ideas on what i can expect to see when i open the trans up and what could be bad? any one have any similar problems with jdm h22 lsd trans?

any info and input would be appreciated, thanks

yup it wasnt put on properly which means its probably broken down and in need of a build. Or you can take the easy route being that the jdm isnt worth sqat to rebuild get a quiafe.

it came on the h22a from hmotorsonline, after it locked up, i drained the fluid, and there was obviously not enough in there, so that is what caused the problem ( i know i know, im a fuckin idiot for not havin enough fluid in it) , but getting over my dumbass mistake, what could possible problems be, my buddy thinks that the synchros may have "welded" themselves, and what are some possible costs to fix these or other possible problems

we are going to tear it apart, but i have to work around my buddys schedule, so for now im just trying to find out some possible things to look for and see what kind of things to expect with prices and options of how to get my cb back on the road the cheapest but best way possible

did you hear any noises? My car did that, except my situation was a little different. I was doing 11mph or so in 1st, put the clutch in, moved the shifter to 2nd, and let the clutch out. As soon as I let the clutch out, the car imedently STOPED (like i put the AUTO into park). Same situation, when i'd let the clutch out with the motor on, it'd move fwd. The trans was stuck in gear. My difference, though was that the shifter woudn't come out of 2nd untill I'm sure I broke somthing forcing it out. It was most likely the synco or the shift fork. Funny thing, when I swaped my h22 into with the h22 tranny, I drained the fluid and noticed, like you, there as none in it. (BTW, this was my F22a4 trans). It was really sad, I had just bought the car two days eariler Didn't even think to check the fluid. Lesson learned.

Anyways, long story short. You'll need to rebuild the trans, or get a new one. Personaly, unless you know what you're doing (or your friend does) i'd buy a new one.

no i heard no noises and had no warning signs, but yea sounds real familiar, lesson learned here too, my motor came with oil, coolant and everything in it, and it took me a little to get the damn thing in and running that i forgot also, i just wanted to drive the damn thing, it happened the second day running it, so as you can tell i was not the happiest person, but yea my buddy knows his shit, i was just wondering what some possible problems could be, and the synchros and shift fork are good possibilities, we already assumed it was somethin like that, just tryin to get some input from anyone who has been through it before, but i cant really figure out my next move until my buddy gets some time to open it up and see if its worth rebuilding

anyone know the possibility of swappin lsd into a non-lsd trans?

as far as shift forks and syncs go, they should be the same. Are you trying to rebuild a NON LSD tranny with LSD parts? (or vis-versa) If so, why not swap the LSD in. (OR vis-versa)

the trans that is bad is the jdm with lsd, and if that trans isnt worth rebuilding when we open it up i only have the money for the non lsd trans, so i was wondering if i could take the lsd out of the old trans and put it into a new non lsd trans if it comes down to me buyin a new one

OH. I see. Well, that is beyond my knowledge, perhaps someone more knowledgable than I would chime in with the answer. Good luck on finding out though,

from what i know you can put the lsd in ur nonlsd tranny but you would have to keep the bell housing since its shaped different to keep the lsd.

so its the non lsd tranny with the lsd in it and lsd bell housing.

like i said thats what i know and think. good luck with it
