It seems I've encountered a dilemma in the process of swapping...You see I've put down half the money for an H22 with manual tranny, I also have the auto tranny too (complicated how I got both trannies, long story short; my brother used to have a 99 prelude). The problem is...my mother-in-law will be sharing the accord with me until she gets herself situated in moving in with us etc...and she cant drive stick...Is there a big power loss with the automatic vs the manual? If it's really that bad I'm gonna say screw it, tell my step mom to learn to drive manual, and put in the manual tranny...However if it's not really THAT bad I'll put in the automatic and deal with it. If worse comes to worse I can always just deal with the automatic until my dearest step mommy gets her own car and then just switch it out...more work for me...but hey...sh!t happens

What is the goal of the car?
If your step mom is temp only gonna drive the car, then i say do the Manual swap.
If you dont care, then keep it auto. Auto has it's points, but you wouldn't be using the upper RPM, ala vtec as the slushbox is just that. Automatic.
Depends though, if the car is for all city, get around town sort of car...then keep it auto.

Yeah the h22 auto's are that bad. I love mine. Still better than the f22 auto tranny that was in my ride stock. I would wait til she gets her own ride. If she doesn't get the hang of driving a stick she could prematurely put some whip ass on your clutch. I'd say, if my clutch goes out, it is gonna because of me and not someone else's doing. Just have patience and wait it out. It will show that you are at least considerate. You won't be helping the cause by doing the swap knowing that she will need to use the car. She would appreciate your efforts more my helping her out in the time of need.91 Ex CB9

The auto isn't too bad. If my car wasn't so heavy already I would probably pull better of the line. Once she is going she can put it down. But I gotta admit that I will be doing the auto to manual swap this summer. The auto's are limited on power upgrades. I am going for at leat 230whp all motor or 350whp boosted.91 Ex CB9

no you dont you only have 190, and a drastic loss in power because of the auto tranny. Look at auto dyno sheets...H22 Prelude VTEC 92-96 200 161 10.6:1 87 90 DOHC VTEC 2157 JDM
190.3whp 155 wtq - with bolt ons, and a dc header

WAIT a sex....... which H22 auto? JDM H22a auto or USDM auto ??? Doesnt the JDM H22a auto package only have 180hp?? i thought i read that in sportcompactcar magazine when they dumped an H into a 94 accrd? is that true..only 180 for the JDM auto H22a? or are they misinformed?? lol cz if thats true then they are even more sluggish!! i could be wrong......Originally posted by JDMxCB7i wouldnt mind goin auto cuz its an H22. still got 200hp either way. Its all up to u bro. If your goal is for ur CB7 to be a show car, id go w/ auto. If for race, manual fosho. Whatever u choose is fine. Good luck man! Ur lucky just to have an H22.
JDM H22a-200hp
JDM H22a auto-180hp
USDM H22a1 auto-190hp
^^ that would seem odd as hell^^
someone enlighten me haha

what is your car stock? auto or manual... i am assuming auto. if i had to share the car i would just stick with the auto tranny swap untill your step mother gets a car.
i am saying this because i would not want someone driving stick for the first time and bang the shit out of a h22 manual tranny!
however if you car is manual.. its kinda hard to change to automatic
so let us know!
