i hear dropping it form the bottom is easy if you have a lift... unbolt everything on the front end and hoist up the body, leaving everything on the ground... swap motors there on the ground and lowerthe car back down ontop of it.

without a lift, its nearly impossible, ive tried lol... you cant lift up the front end high enough, the back end hits the ground (tried it)

lol... that mental image is horribly amusing to me... thank you for that Mike

It is easy of you have a lift... but I've only known of 1 person who did i that way... but he had a lift... I was just curious how it went without a lift...

I've dropped engines and installed engines plenty of times w/ friends through the bottom. Simply get a jack underneath the engine, jack it up, and bolt it into a motor mount and its pretty much self explainetory from there. IMO it IS the easiest way. Later.

Oh yeah bump for those freakin pics!

Lol we jack the car(s) up and put that bitch on jackstands. Then we just drag the motor under the engine bay, pull the motor backwards and shove the jack under the motor. And start jacking it up.. it's pretty easy!

pix are on the way...had to wash her first.....as for dropping a motor through the bottom, I'm sure if you have a lift to get the car off the ground it's easy. I was using jackstands and had the car almost 3.5 ft off the ground. It wouldn't have been that bad, but not only do you have to drop the crossmember to do this, but the h23 that I took out is no small motor and trying to lower it with a tranny attached down on a hydraulic jack was a bitch.....that's why when it came time to drop the f22 in I invested in a hoist. Much much easier...
i roll my wagon slo, f22b style...

I just swapped in my A4 before Christmas and I did it with a lift from the bottom. Hella easy, but the only hard part is getting the engine perfectly placed so you can "just lower the car onto it", without hitting/breaking something...

                        ....

pix will be up soon.....I had to go to the yard today to get an f series p/s pump and bracket as the jdm one is in no way going to work. I didn't wanna take pix with hoses all over the place so I'm trying to clean things up a little...as soon as time permits I'll be putting a/c back on the wag so I'm shooting for one of the few f22b swaps with a/c, p/s, etc.....

On a lighter note, I'm going to Mardi Gras in St. Louis in about 6 hrs so don't expect much outta me till Sunday..... The Big Easy is hurtin' so I hear everyones comin' here as this was the number 2 mardi gras celebration in the country......
