    H22a Power Steering

I bought a h22 high pressure power steering line from the dealer the other day (170 bucks!!). I went to put it on and the receptacle on the power steering pump was waaay larger than the fitting on the power steering hose.

Anyway, I was wondering if you guys had any problem with the JDM h22a power steering pump not working with the USDM h22a1 power steering hose.

This is the fitting I was referring to:

The receptacle on the power steering pump is 5-10 mm larger in diameter than the fitting on the hose. I'm almost positive the hose is correct; it was a dealer part and I double checked the part number. I'm thinking my next move would be to get a h22a1 power steering pump off eBay. Either that or just run the f22 p/s system.

whats the part number on the bag?

53713-SS0-A51 is what i came up with. ** the gasket was provided as well..correct??**

thats the one for the 93-96 VTEC preludes. then it changes for all other models.
    F22a1-->F22A-->H22A-->auto-2-5spd-->K20 6spd-->F22C 6spd RWD-->4G63 6spd AWD-->K24 6spd????

Yup, that's the part number on the bag. In terms of the gasket, are you referring to this o-ring?

yes its an o-ring gasket. well looks like the jdm pump isnt gonna work. i honestly dont see a problem using the accord p/s. and its better than forking over 200+ just to hook up the prelude p/s.

besides the massive accord mounting bracket, its not worse/better than the prelude pump. ive also found a gates belt that worked (tried 3 diff ones, diff lengths) and my accord pump doesnt hit the hood at all. not even when shifting.

i dunno its entirely up to you.

Sounds like a pretty convincing argument. Do you by chance have the part number or the dimensions for the power steering belt you used?

If you decide to go with the accord pump, the part number for the belt is 435K4-4PK1105

I have the JDM H22 pump, and the USDM H22 line fits perfectly. Never heard of the problem you encountered. (Although the hose between the reservour to the pump needs to be larger diameter at the pump fitting.)

I notice on Hondaautomotiveparts.com that there is a different part number for the prelude H22 P/S line, and the prelude F22 P/S line.

PM blackcb7 for info on this. He recently installed one on airride accords car.

Using the Accord pump is not a good idea long term. Only 2 of the 3 mounting bracket holes can be used and you have to shim the lower hole. I know of 2 or 3 people that have had issues with one of the bolts breaking because of this.

i had no issues installing a JDM H22A pump with a new OEM USDM H22A1 line.

                    Hmm... Interesting accounts.

I wonder what kinda power steering pump I have then. It's not the h22a4-style power steering pump; I was comparing mine to the h22a4 pump on majestic honda. And its not hooking up with the h22a-style pump, which apparently is the same as the h22a1 style pump. I guess I got some oddball pump then.

Nonetheless, thanks for all the help!

The fitting on the hose looks totally different than the one of the pump.

Some label on the top of the pump.

I can take more area-specific pictures if needed.

strange. That pump looks very simular to the right one, but that hole in the top is very different

well i have kinda good news and kinda bad news.....

the bad news is, that pump isnt going to work with ur line (obviously ) its for a 5th gen accord. P0A like the 94-97 p/s pumps. (just checked the parts catalog)

                            kinda good news:below

so your H22 came out of an accord. anywho.... you can get a 5th gen p/s line and try that one **dont think it will work the same way, since we never had an H22 in accord model car in the US**

If my dad hasnt thrown it out, i have a JDM prelude p/s pump left over from the swap. if you pay shipping you can have it. but i need to check,

                            sorry
