Problems need some help..

ok so as some of you may know i just got a 92 EX 4dr givin to me.. here is the thread that i originally posted about it being givin to me.. here is what the guy told me when i finally picked it up today.. ok he said he was the second owner and bought it in 96 and it was his baby and took care of it immaculately, it has 260,000 miles on it and its not running.. Now he said about two months ago he came out to it and it wouldn't start like the battery was drained, so he said he jumped it and it ran perfect so he let it run for about 45 min and shut it off and tried to start it again and same thing dead battery.
So he took it to a mechanic and told him what was wrong with it thinking maybe the alternator was bad.
well the mechanic said he couldn't make the problem reoccur so he came back and picked it up and he got it home and it did it again. shut it off and dead battery deal.. so he thought maybe it was the alarm draining it (It has an alarm on it too ) so he disconnected it but never tried to do anything else he just went out and bought him a newer car..
This was about two months ago and its been sitting since then.. soo..
I called my buddy and he said it almost sounds like it could be a bad battery so im going to go buy one tomorrow and see what that does..

What do you guys think could be the problem??
The guy said he religiously changed the oil ever 2,500 miles and tuned it up every 60,000 miles and did it again shortly before it quit.. He also rebuilt the transmission less than 5,000 miles ago and put brand new tires on about 2,000 miles ago (Has nothing to do with the prob but its cool)..
Anyway please help me out guys im going to start gettin my hands dirty on it in the morning to see what i can figure out but i would like to see what you guys think i should try if the battery doesn't cut it.. Ill take some pictures with the digi cam tomorrow aswell and post them up tomorrow evening.

ug...you'd have to do some more diagnosing on it...could be battery, could be alternator...could be cable...I'm sure there's more.

You'd have to do a CCA check on the battery...check the alt. output (I think autozone or oreilly can do it)

knock those out as bad/good and then we could take it from there. I don't think it's the alt. since it ran fine after the jump...if the alt. was bad then it would die once disconnected from the other car.

alright so i got a new battery and i cranked it and it sputtered but wouldn't actaully run it just kept doing that..

GOT IT RUNNING!!! end result.. new battery, valve cover gasket, new spark plugs, and new PCV valve (Broke it on accident woops).. Spark plugs where saturated in oil.. after it started it smoked for about 10 seconds then clear as day no smoke at all.. i think because all that oil was in the spark plug tubes and went into the motor and clogged the plugs.. Now she runs great!!

yea i couldn't stand another CB broken down.. one down one to go now uim working on my buddies H22 swap.

you replace the spark plug tube orings (lower) and seals (upper)?

its the kit that you can get from the auto parts store.. like 22 bucks or something

did you replace O-rings at the bottom of the spark plug tubes? If not...you might have oil in there again later on...I only had oil leak on two of my plugs...but I didn't replace the orings...only the seal on the vc...no oil leak since...but...it's best to replace those o-rings at the bottom.

If you didn't...I wouldn't tear back into it...wait and see if it leaks...if it does...then open it back up.

so you took the rocker assembly off and everything?

Wouldn't hurt to pull a plug wire out once in a while and check for oil leaking.
