    Got my header, but...

I need a full set of gaskets and nuts for the header/dp flange. I'm thinking a set of copper gaskets, but does anyone have any other type or a certain brand they like?
It's a 4.2.1, the guy said it was a T I C header, but I haven't seen anything stamped on it and he did just let me have it and the downpipe for free, so I'm thinking eBay.

Get a head port gasket from like autozone, and make your own gasket with liquidity gasket stuff for the downpipe. The other stuff you can probably get at a hardware store.
    wat?

Sweet. Thanks! Now, is it possible to get rid of the blueing? I don't mind it, but the guy had his hands all over it and it's blotchy. If I can clean it off and then install it, clean my own oily handprints off and the let it blue up on it's own, I think it will look a lot better. Or I can clean it up, wipe the new babies hands with a little 30 weight and put his tiny handprints all over it before I get it heated back up, so it has a little baby handprint pattern. I'll tell people I only use midget mechanics!!!

i doubt you'll be able to remove that "blue" coloring effect from the metal Jon, when i bought my used Megan header, it was tarnished from improper handling and from being heated. i've even tried that tarnish remover stuff that they use on pots and pans but all it did was make it a little shinier. I think i'm just going to cover it up with header wrap since it makes it really hot in the engine bay now.

When i also installed my exhaust, i'd replace that metal gasket at the engine head but from the header to the downpipe i used Permatex copper gasket maker. No leaks or anything, the only catch is you have to wait a while for it to set up first before tightening anything down.

Damn, Luke I was afraid of that. I looked at "blue away" for bike pipes, but it didn't impress me at all. I guess I'll just polish it with a soft cloth and get used to it. I thought about heating the pipes with MAPP gas and oil quenching them, just to see what happened, but I'll leave it alone. Maybe I should blue my strut bar to match.

I got the tires on! Well, two of them. They wouldn't mount one due to a chunk out if the bead, but the sales girl at the tire shop lived in my complex and said she could get me two Potenza g019s (the 009 replacement) for 62 bucks each. Might have to jump on that. Thanks again! You get your capacitor yet?

yeah got it soldered in yesterday and that solved my code 15 on the TCU BUT... it didn't solve the slipping problem. so with my tax rebate from the Government, i'm going to use it on a 5spd swap. the bulk of it is for a new clutch kit and the ESP mounts. everything else i can grab from the salvage yards.

Yeah the "bluing" is what happens to heated metal. Theres no way around it.

The oil leak will get fixed when I finish my spare cam cover. I noticed a difference. Mostly mid to high rpm power, but def has more low end too. Nothing remarkable, but a noticeable change. I think it sounds a little "blatty" when I rev it unloaded, but in gear with the clutch out and WOT? It's damn sexy!!
